The initial area is straightforward. You'll encounter Zombies, Bats, and Mermen. Zombies are slow but numerous; whip them from a distance. Bats fly in predictable patterns but can be annoying in groups. Mermen jump out of the water and shoot projectiles; time your whips to hit them as they emerge. Collect hearts and the Dagger sub-weapon if you find it. The Dagger is a fast, low-cost projectile useful for clearing out smaller enemies.

Proceed through the village, jumping over gaps and avoiding pitfalls. The graveyard section introduces more Zombies and the occasional Ghost. Ghosts are intangible until they get close, then they become solid and attack. Use your whip or a well-aimed sub-weapon to dispatch them quickly. Don't rush, as precise jumps are required to avoid falling into water or off ledges.
