Beyond basic whipping and sub-weapon usage, there are several techniques that can give you an edge in combat:

- Whip Extension (Trevor): Once Trevor gets his second whip upgrade, holding the B button keeps the whip extended. This is incredibly useful for creating a defensive barrier, hitting enemies as they approach, or maintaining continuous damage on bosses. Master this technique.
- Sub-Weapon Cycling: Don't stick to just one sub-weapon. Learn which sub-weapon is most effective against specific enemies or bosses and switch accordingly. For example, Holy Water for ground enemies, Axe for flying enemies, Cross for multiple hits.
- Enemy Knockback: When Trevor (or any character) takes damage, they are knocked back. Use this to your advantage in some situations to avoid falling into pits if you're hit near an edge, but be careful not to get knocked into worse hazards.
- Invincibility Frames: After taking damage, your character is briefly invincible. Use these precious frames to reposition or get in a quick attack without fear of immediate follow-up damage.
- Candle Management: Always whip every candle. Not only do they drop hearts and sub-weapons, but they can also drop whip upgrades or temporary multi-shot power-ups that are crucial for difficult sections.
Practicing these techniques will make you a more formidable vampire hunter.
