Mission 1-3: The Hunting Path
Welcome, Belmont, to the perilous Hunting Path. This mission introduces you to some new mechanics and enemies, so stay sharp. Your primary objective is to navigate the treacherous forest and confront the Lycan Alpha.
Initial Ascent and Lycan Encounter
- Begin by moving forward along the path. You'll quickly encounter a group of Lycans. These are standard enemies, but their numbers can be overwhelming if you're not careful.
- Combat Strategy: Focus on crowd control. use your Area of Effect (AoE) attacks like the "Cyclone" (hold attack button) to hit multiple enemies. Remember to block and dodge frequently to avoid taking unnecessary damage. Lycans are susceptible to your chain whip's strong attacks, so don't hesitate to unleash a combo.
- After dispatching the first wave, continue up the path. You'll soon reach a climbable wall.
- Climbing: Press the jump button to initiate the climb. Use the left stick to move Gabriel up, down, left, and right along the handholds. Be mindful of crumbling sections – they'll glow red just before breaking. Quickly move to a stable handhold if you see one.
The Waterfall and Hidden Items
- Once you reach the top of the climb, you'll find yourself near a roaring waterfall. Before proceeding, look around carefully.
- Health Upgrade: To the left of the waterfall, behind some foliage, you'll find a hidden Life Gem. These are crucial for increasing Gabriel's maximum health, so always seek them out.
- Magic Upgrade: To the right of the waterfall, slightly obscured, is a Light Gem. Collecting these increases your Light Magic capacity.
- Proceed across the narrow ledge next to the waterfall. Be careful not to fall.
The Lycan Alpha
- As you cross the ledge, you'll trigger a cinematic introducing the Lycan Alpha. This larger, more aggressive Lycan serves as a mini-boss for this section.
- Lycan Alpha Strategy:
- The Alpha has a charge attack and a powerful claw swipe. Both are telegraphed, so watch for its movements.
- Dodge and Counter: Your primary tactic should be to dodge its attacks and then counter with your own combos. The "Seraphic Wing" (dodge + jump) can be useful for quickly repositioning.
- Sub-Weapon Use: Don't forget your sub-weapons. Holy Water can stun the Alpha, giving you a window for sustained damage. Fairies, if you have any, can distract it.
- Environmental Advantage: Look for opportunities to use the environment. If there are any explosive barrels nearby, lure the Alpha towards them and detonate them with your whip.
- Once its health is sufficiently depleted, a quick-time event (QTE) prompt will appear. Successfully complete the QTE to finish off the Lycan Alpha.
Path to the Exit
- After defeating the Lycan Alpha, the path forward will open. Continue along the winding trail.
- You'll encounter a few more standard Lycans, but they should pose little threat after your encounter with the Alpha.
- Keep an eye out for any glowing objects – these are usually experience orbs or small health pickups.
- Eventually, you'll reach the end of the path, triggering the mission complete screen.
