The Abyss

Your journey begins in the desolate Abyss. This area is linear but fraught with danger. Keep your eyes peeled for hidden items and be ready for combat.

  • Initial Path: Follow the crumbling path forward. You'll encounter several Lesser Demons. These are easily dispatched with your standard whip attacks.
  • First Puzzle – Shadow Gem Activation: You'll come across a large, inactive Shadow Gem. To activate it, you need to find three smaller Shadow Gem fragments.
    • Fragment 1: Located on a small ledge to your left after the first demon encounter. Use your Combat Cross to grapple across the gap.
    • Fragment 2: Behind a destructible wall on the right side of the main path. Use your Holy Cross attack to break through.
    • Fragment 3: At the end of a short, dead-end path to the north. Be wary of a lurking Ghoul.
  • Activating the Main Gem: Once all three fragments are collected, return to the large Shadow Gem and interact with it. This will open a new pathway.
  • Combat Encounter – Dark Knights: The newly opened path leads to a chamber with two Dark Knights. These enemies are heavily armored. Focus on parrying their attacks and using Light Magic to break their guard. A well-timed Cyclone attack can also stun them, allowing for critical hits.
  • Relic – Void Sword Shard: After defeating the Dark Knights, a shimmering Void Sword Shard will appear in the center of the room. Collect it to unlock a new ability for your Combat Cross, allowing you to temporarily slow down enemies. This will be crucial later on.

The Forgotten Catacombs

Beyond the Abyss lies the labyrinthine Forgotten Catacombs. This area requires careful platforming and environmental puzzle-solving.

  • Navigating the Chasm: You'll immediately face a wide chasm. Look for glowing grapple points on the ceiling. Use your Combat Cross to swing across. Be precise with your timing, as falling means instant death.
  • Pressure Plate Puzzle: A large door is sealed by a pressure plate puzzle. There are three pressure plates and only one heavy block.
    • Solution: Push the heavy block onto the central pressure plate. Then, use your Shadow Magic to create a clone on one of the remaining plates. Quickly stand on the last plate yourself. This will open the door.
  • Enemy Ambush – Vampire Warriors: As you enter the next chamber, you'll be ambushed by a group of Vampire Warriors. These enemies are fast and can drain your health. Prioritize dodging their lunging attacks and counter with area-of-effect abilities like Earthquake.
