The parry is arguably the most powerful defensive and offensive tool in Gabriel's arsenal. A perfectly timed block (L1/LB) just as an enemy's attack is about to land will not only negate damage but also stun most enemies, leaving them vulnerable to a devastating counter-attack. Some enemies, particularly larger ones, may only be stunned by a parry, creating a crucial opening for heavy attacks or a grapple. Practice the timing against various enemy types; each has a slightly different attack wind-up. The 'Chain Barrier' skill, unlocked early on, enhances your parry by allowing you to immediately follow up with a powerful counter. Mastering the parry will significantly reduce incoming damage, increase your damage output, and make even the toughest encounters manageable. It's especially vital on higher difficulty settings.
