Boss Strategy: Giant Bat
The Giant Bat, encountered early in Ruvas Forest, is Shanoa's first sificant airborne challenge. Its primary attacks involve swooping dives and a disorienting sonic screech. The Giant Bat is particularly vulnerable to Fire and Pierce damage.
Recommended Glyphs and Tactics
For this encounter, the is (fire) Glyph is highly recommended. When equipped as a weapon Glyph, it allows Shanoa to unleash fireballs. Combining is with the Confodere (sword) Glyph creates a fiery sword attack that deals consistent damage and can ite the bat, inflicting damage over time. If you have acquired the Confodere Glyph, equip it to your primary attack slot (e.g., R button) and is to your secondary (e.g., L button) to perform the fiery sword union.
Alternatively, if you have the Viper (pierce) Glyph, its rapid projectiles can also be effective. Focus on staying mobile, dodging its swooping attacks by jumping or dashing. When the Giant Bat hovers briefly after a screech attack, it presents a prime opportunity to unleash your strongest Glyphs or unions.
Boss Strategy: Death (First Encounter)
Your first encounter with Death, a recurring and formidable foe, occurs in the Dracula's Castle area. Death wields a scythe and can teleport, making him a difficult opponent to pin down. He is resistant to most physical attacks but can be damaged by holy and dark magic.
Recommended Glyphs and Tactics
The Sanctus (holy) Glyph is your best friend here. When used as a spell Glyph, it unleashes a burst of holy energy. If you have the Draculin (dark) Glyph, combining it with Sanctus can create a powerful holy-dark energy blast. Focus on dodging Death's scythe swings and teleportation attacks. When he pauses after a flurry of attacks, use your Sanctus Glyph or any holy-based unions you have. Patience is key; avoid getting greedy with attacks, as Death can punish overextension severely. If you have access to the Somnus (sleep) Glyph, using it can briefly incapacitate Death, giving you a window to attack.
Boss Strategy: Legion (The Great Morbid)
Legion, a massive, spherical entity composed of numerous smaller bodies, is found within the Abyss. Its primary attack is to roll and slam into Shanoa, and it can also release smaller orbs that attack independently. Legion's core is its weak point, but it is protected by its outer shell.
Recommended Glyphs and Tactics
Legion is weak to Fire and Slash damage. The is Glyph is excellent for dealing with the smaller orbs that Legion releases, as it can hit multiple targets. For Legion itself, the Confodere Glyph, especially when imbued with fire (Confodere + is union), can be effective against its outer shell. Once the outer shell is sufficiently damaged, smaller segments will break off, revealing the core. Focus your attacks on the core when it's exposed. The Crag (rock) Glyph, when used as a weapon, can also deal sificant damage to its shell. Keep moving to avoid its rolling attacks and be prepared to quickly dispatch any smaller orbs that break free.
