Upon starting a new game, you'll be prompted to enter a name for your save file. There are no character customization options beyond this, as you play as the pre-defined protagonist, Shanoa. However, understanding the initial setup and your starting abilities is important.
Shanoa begins with a basic set of Glyphs: Confodere (a sword Glyph for melee attacks) and Magnes (a utility Glyph for movement). You'll also have a small amount of gold and some basic healing items. The game's tutorial section, Wygol Village, will introduce you to the core mechanics of Glyph absorption and combat. Pay close attention to Master Barlowe's instructions, as he will guide you through the initial steps of your journey and explain the importance of Glyphs in Ecclesia's combat system. Don't rush through this introductory phase; it lays the groundwork for all future challenges.
