Boss: The Sisters (Stella & Loretta)
The battle against Stella and Loretta, the vampire sisters, is unique and requires a specific strategy rather than brute force. Your objective isn't to deplete their HP through conventional attacks, but to successfully cast the Sanctuary spell on at least one of them. This fight can be frustrating if you don't understand the mechanics, but with the right approach, it's quite manageable.
Preparation is Key
Before entering the boss arena, ensure Charlotte has the Sanctuary spell equipped and sufficient MP to cast it. While not strictly necessary for victory, having healing items like Potions or High Potions can be useful for Jonathan if he takes too much damage while luring. Equipping gear that boosts Charlotte's INT or MP regeneration can also be beneficial, though not essential.
Battle Strategy
The core of this fight revolves around Charlotte casting Sanctuary while Jonathan distracts or lures one of the sisters. The spell has a significant cast time, during which Charlotte is vulnerable. The key is to create an opening and protect her.
Phase 1: Positioning Charlotte
- Immediately upon entering the boss room, switch to Charlotte.
- Move Charlotte to one of the back corners of the room. The far left or far right corner works best. This provides her with some distance from the sisters and a relatively safe spot to begin casting.
- Begin casting the Sanctuary spell.
Phase 2: Jonathan's Role - The Lure and Protect
Once Charlotte starts casting, switch to Jonathan. Your primary objective is to draw one of the sisters, preferably Stella, towards you and away from Charlotte, while simultaneously keeping them from interrupting her spell.
- Focus on Stella: Stella tends to be more aggressive and will often pursue Jonathan directly, making her easier to lure. Loretta, on the other hand, often hangs back and casts ice spells.
- Lure and Distract: Engage Stella with your whip. Don't be afraid to attack her, as this will keep her attention. The goal isn't to defeat her, but to keep her occupied.
- Protect Charlotte: If either sister gets too close to Charlotte, use Jonathan to intercept them. A well-timed whip attack can knock them back or stun them momentarily, giving Charlotte more time.
- Avoid Loretta's Ice: While luring Stella, be mindful of Loretta's ice attacks. They can freeze Jonathan, leaving Charlotte vulnerable. Try to move in a way that avoids these projectiles.
Phase 3: The Sanctuary Strike
Charlotte's Sanctuary spell has a limited range. You only need to catch one of the sisters within its area of effect for it to succeed. As Charlotte nears the completion of her cast:
- Timing is Crucial: Continue luring Stella towards Charlotte's general vicinity. As the spell is about to unleash, try to position Stella within its radius.
- Release the Spell: Once the spell is fully charged and at least one sister is within its range, the battle will conclude. You don't need to hit both, just one.
Tips for Success
- Don't Panic: The sisters can deal significant damage, but remember that your goal isn't to defeat them conventionally. Focus on the spell.
- Practice Luring: If you're struggling, practice Jonathan's movement and whip attacks to effectively draw and hold Stella's attention.
- Heal Jonathan: If Jonathan's HP gets low, quickly switch to Charlotte and use a healing item on him, then switch back to continue the lure.
- Experiment with Corners: If one corner isn't working for Charlotte, try the other. Sometimes the sisters' AI will behave differently.
