Dracula (Stage 7)
The climactic confrontation with Dracula, the Lord of Darkness, awaits you at the pinnacle of his cursed castle. This battle is a true test of your mastery over Richter Belmont or Maria Renard, demanding precise timing, strategic sub-weapon usage, and an understanding of Dracula's devastating attack patterns. Prepare for a two-phase encounter that will push your skills to their limit.
Recommended Sub-Weapons & Key Items
- Richter Belmont:
- Cross: Invaluable for both forms. Its wide hitbox and multi-hit potential make it devastating against Dracula's first form and the Item Crash (Holy Cross) is one of the most powerful attacks against his second form.
- Axe: A decent alternative for the first form if you prefer a more direct, arcing projectile. Less effective against the second form's head due to trajectory.
- Holy Water: Can provide some area denial against the first form's teleport points, but generally less effective than the Cross.
- Hearts: Stock up! You'll need a significant supply for Item Crashes, especially with the Cross.
- Maria Renard:
- Doves: Maria's primary offensive sub-weapon. Their homing ability and rapid-fire nature make them excellent for consistent damage against both forms.
- Dragon: Extremely powerful, especially when charged. Can deal massive damage to Dracula's head in his second form.
- Cat: While less direct, the Cat can provide some protection and damage against ground-based enemies summoned by Dracula (though less common in this fight).
- Turtle: Provides a temporary shield, which can be useful for absorbing a single hit, but generally less impactful than offensive options.
- Hearts: Essential for Maria's powerful Item Crashes, particularly with the Dragon.
Richter Belmont Strategy
Phase 1: Humanoid Dracula
Dracula begins in his classic humanoid form, teleporting around the room and unleashing several magical attacks. Your primary goal is to land as many hits as possible while avoiding his projectiles.
- Attack Patterns & Evasion:
- Teleport & Fireballs: Dracula will frequently teleport to different locations (usually the center, left, or right platforms). Upon reappearing, he typically fires three fireballs in a spread pattern. These can be dodged by moving between them or by jumping over the lower ones. Anticipate his teleport locations and be ready to move.
- Teleport & Bat Swarm: Occasionally, instead of fireballs, Dracula will summon a swarm of bats that fly across the screen. These are easily dispatched with a whip swing or a sub-weapon.
- Teleport & Hellfire Pillars: Less common, but Dracula can summon pillars of fire from the ground. These are telegraphed by small flames appearing on the floor before the pillar erupts. Move away from these indicators immediately.
- Offensive Strategy:
- Whip Attacks: Whenever Dracula appears, immediately whip him. Aim for his head for critical hits.
- Cross Sub-Weapon: The Cross is your best friend here. Throw it as soon as Dracula materializes. Its boomerang effect allows it to hit him multiple times as it travels and returns, dealing significant damage. Conserve some hearts, but don't be afraid to use the Cross frequently.
- Item Crash (Holy Cross): While powerful, it's generally recommended to save your Item Crash for Dracula's second form, as it's more resource-intensive and the second form is often tougher.
- General Tips:
- Stay mobile. Don't stand still in one spot for too long.
- Learn his teleport patterns. He tends to favor certain spots.
- Focus on consistent damage. This phase is about chipping away at his health.
Phase 2: Demonic Dracula
Upon defeating his first form, Dracula transforms into a grotesque, giant demon. This phase is more about pattern recognition and precise dodging.

- Attack Patterns & Evasion:
- Fire Breath: Dracula will lean forward and unleash a stream of fire breath across the ground. This attack has a slight wind-up. To avoid it, perform a high jump (or a backflip if you have the timing down) over the flame. You can often get a hit in on his head during this attack's recovery.
- Ground Slam: He will raise one of his massive hands and slam it down, causing a shockwave along the ground. This is telegraphed by his arm raising. Jump just before his hand hits the ground to avoid the shockwave.
- Fire Pillars: Dracula will summon multiple pillars of fire that erupt from the ground in various patterns (e.g., in a line, or spreading out). The ground will briefly glow where the pillars are about to appear. Move quickly to a safe spot between the indicators. Sometimes, a double jump or a well-timed backflip can help you navigate these.
- Eye Beams (Rare): Occasionally, his eyes might glow, and he'll fire a horizontal beam. This is less common but requires a quick duck or jump.
- Offensive Strategy:
- Target the Head: Dracula's only vulnerable spot in this form is his head. All attacks should be aimed there.
- Whip Jumps: After dodging a ground slam or fire breath, jump and whip his head. This is your primary source of damage.
- Cross Sub-Weapon: Continue to use the Cross if you have hearts. Its trajectory can often hit his head, especially if you jump and throw it.
- Item Crash (Holy Cross): This is where the Holy Cross shines. When Dracula is recovering from an attack, activate the Item Crash. It will deal massive, consistent damage to his head, often shortening the fight significantly. Try to use it when you're directly in front of him for maximum hits.
- General Tips:
- Stay calm and observe his attack tells. Each attack has a distinct wind-up.
- Prioritize evasion over offense. A single hit from Demonic Dracula can be very damaging.
- Don't get greedy. Land a hit or two, then prepare to dodge.
Maria Renard Strategy
Phase 1: Humanoid Dracula
Maria's unique abilities and powerful sub-weapons make her a formidable opponent against Dracula's first form.
- Attack Patterns & Evasion:
- Dracula's attack patterns are identical to Richter's fight (teleport, fireballs, bats, fire pillars).
- Maria's smaller hitbox and faster movement make dodging slightly easier. use her double jump for quick aerial repositioning.
- Offensive Strategy:
- Doves Sub-Weapon: Maria's Doves are incredibly effective. Throw them as soon as Dracula appears. Their homing ability ensures they will track him, even as he teleports, allowing for consistent damage.
- Dragon Sub-Weapon: The Dragon, especially when charged, can deal massive damage. If you can anticipate where Dracula will appear, unleash a charged Dragon for a huge burst of damage.
- Normal Attack (Kick): While less powerful than Richter's whip, Maria's kick can still connect if you're close enough. Focus on sub-weapons.
- Item Crash (Animal Parade): Maria's Item Crash is devastating. It summons a parade of animals that rush across the screen, dealing continuous damage. This can quickly deplete Dracula's health in his first form. Use it strategically, especially if you have an abundance of hearts.
- General Tips:
- Maria's agility is her greatest asset. Use it to your advantage to stay out of harm's way.
- Keep a steady stream of Doves flying.
- Don't be afraid to use the Item Crash if you want to shorten this phase.
Phase 2: Demonic Dracula
Maria's double jump and powerful Item Crash make her well-suited for tackling Demonic Dracula.
- Attack Patterns & Evasion:
- Dracula's attack patterns (fire breath, ground slam, fire pillars) remain the same.
- Double Jump: Maria's double jump is crucial here. It allows her to easily clear the fire breath and ground slam shockwaves, providing more airtime to position herself for attacks.
- Slide: Her slide can also be used for quick horizontal evasion from fire pillars.
- Offensive Strategy:
- Target the Head: Just like Richter, aim all attacks at Dracula's head.
- Doves Sub-Weapon: Continue to use your Doves. Jump and throw them to ensure they reach his head. Their homing nature is still beneficial.
- Dragon Sub-Weapon: The Dragon is incredibly potent against Demonic Dracula's head. After dodging an attack, jump and unleash a charged Dragon for massive damage. This is often the fastest way to end the fight.
- Item Crash (Animal Parade): Maria's Item Crash is arguably even more effective here than Richter's against the second form. Activate it when you have a clear shot at Dracula's head, and the continuous stream of animals will decimate his health bar. This can often end the fight in a matter of seconds if timed well.
- General Tips:
- use Maria's superior aerial mobility to stay safe and position for attacks.
- The Dragon and Item Crash are your heavy hitters; use them wisely but don't hoard hearts if you have an opening.
- Consistent pressure with Doves between Dragon attacks is key.
