Stage 1: The Village Outskirts
Welcome to Castlevania: Rondo of Blood! Your adventure commences in the ominous Village Outskirts, a crucial introductory stage designed to familiarize you with Richter Belmont's core abilities and the game's foundational mechanics. This section will guide you through navigating the terrain, dispatching early-game threats, and uncovering essential items. We’ll cover enemy strategies for the common foes you'll encounter, highlight the location of vital sub-weapons and power-ups, and prepare you for the stage's closing encounter.
Navigating the Village
The initial path through the Village Outskirts is straightforward, featuring basic platforming challenges. Your primary focus should be on mastering Richter's movement: the jump, double jump, and his iconic whip attack. Pay close attention to the environment for breakable objects. Destroying all candles is paramount for collecting hearts, which are essential for using sub-weapons.
Enemies and Strategies
- Zombies: These slow-moving shamblers are easily dispatched with a single whip crack. Be mindful of their tendency to appear in groups and from off-screen.
- Bone Pillars: These enemies emerge from the ground, spitting bones. Time your attacks to strike them between bone projectiles, or use a sub-weapon for consistent damage.
- Flea Men: These agile adversaries are a common nuisance. Their erratic jumping patterns can make them difficult to hit. Utilize the full reach of your whip or employ the Axe sub-weapon to strike them at a distance or from above.
Key Items and Discoveries
- Axe Sub-Weapon: Seek out the Axe early in the stage. It is incredibly effective against enemies positioned above Richter, allowing you to clear paths and deal significant damage from a safe distance.
- Hidden Wall: Towards the end of Stage 1, just before the boss arena, there is a hidden breakable wall. Investigate it to reveal a large heart, providing a substantial boost to your heart count.
