This area immediately introduces Fishmen, who leap out of the water and spit fireballs. They are best dealt with from a distance using your whip. The platforms here are often small and surrounded by water, which is instantly fatal. The infamous Medusa Heads also make their debut, flying in a sine wave pattern. They are small and difficult to hit, so often it's better to avoid them by timing your jumps. If you have the Holy Water, it can be very effective against Fishmen, as it creates a flame pillar on the ground. Be careful of crumbling blocks; they disappear shortly after you step on them. Plan your jumps carefully across these sections. There's often a Double Shot power-up hidden in a candle in this stage, which is incredibly useful for sub-weapons.
