Stage Layouts & Maps

Navigating Dracula's castle can be a perilous endeavor. This section provides detailed walkthroughs for each stage, highlighting key items, enemy placements, and optimal strategies to ensure your survival.

Castle Wall

The Castle Wall serves as your initial entry point into the horrors within. Expect a relatively straightforward path, but remain vigilant for early threats.

  • Starting Point: You begin at the base of the wall. Move forward, dispatching the basic Skeletons that patrol the path.
  • First Platform: Climb the first set of stairs. A Medusa Head will likely appear from the right. Time your whip attacks to avoid its petrifying gaze.
  • Candle & Item: Just past the Medusa Head, you'll find a candle containing a Heart. Collect it to power your sub-weapons.
  • Elevated Ledge: Jump across the gap to the elevated ledge. Be wary of another Skeleton.
  • Hidden Passage (Optional): Before proceeding to the next section, look for a slightly obscured break in the wall on the upper-left of this ledge. Whip it to reveal a hidden passage containing a Large Heart.
  • Second Set of Stairs: Continue upwards, dealing with more Skeletons and potentially a Bat.
  • Whip Upgrade: At the top of the second set of stairs, you'll encounter a larger candle. Destroy it to obtain the Leather Whip Upgrade, significantly increasing your attack range and power.
  • Bridge Section: Cross the rickety bridge. Several Bats will swoop down. Use your newly upgraded whip to clear them out efficiently.
  • End of Stage: The stage concludes as you enter the main castle courtyard.

Castle Courtyard

The Courtyard introduces more complex platforming and a greater variety of enemies. Prepare for vertical challenges and environmental hazards.

  • Entrance: Upon entering, you'll face several Zombies shambling towards you. Keep your distance and use your whip.
  • Water Fountain: To your right, a decorative water fountain often hides a Small Heart. Break it open.
  • First Tower Ascent: Begin climbing the first tower. Watch out for Crows perched on ledges; they will dive-bomb you.
  • Rotating Gears: Navigate the rotating gear platforms. Timing your jumps is crucial. A misstep can lead to a fall and significant damage.
  • Sub-Weapon Acquisition: On a platform halfway up the first tower, you'll find a candle containing the Axe sub-weapon. This is excellent for enemies above or below you.
  • Gargoyle Encounter: At the top of the first tower, a Gargoyle will attack. Its flight pattern is predictable; wait for it to swoop low before striking.
  • Bridge to Second Tower: Cross the narrow bridge connecting the two towers. More Bats will harass you here.
  • Second Tower Descent: The second tower involves a downward path. Be mindful of falling debris and crumbling platforms.
  • Hidden Room (Optional): Near the bottom of the second tower, look for a suspicious crack in the wall on the left. Break it to reveal a hidden room with a Rosary, which clears all on-screen enemies.
  • Courtyard Exit: The exit to the next area is located at the base of the second tower, leading into the Main Hall.

Main Hall

The Main Hall is a sprawling area characterized by grand architecture and numerous branching paths. Exploration is rewarded here.

  • Grand Entrance: You enter a large, ornate hall. Skeletons and Flea Men are common here.
  • Central Staircase: A massive staircase dominates the center. Ascend it, but be prepared for enemies ambushing you from above.
  • Left Wing:
    • Library Access: Taking the left path leads to the Library. This area often contains scrolls that reveal lore and sometimes hidden items.
    • Hidden Candle: In the Library, search behind the tall bookshelves for a hidden candle containing a Money Bag.
    • Medusa Head Gauntlet: A section of the left wing is heavily patrolled by Medusa Heads. Use your sub-weapons or carefully time your movements.
  • Right Wing:
    • Dining Hall Access: The right path leads to the Dining Hall. This area is often filled with various food items for health recovery.
    • Secret Wall: In the Dining Hall, there's a suspicious section of wall near the fireplace. Whip it to reveal a hidden room with a Pot Roast.
    • Armored Knight: A formidable Armored Knight guards the end of the right wing. Attack its exposed back or use the Axe sub-weapon effectively.
  • Upper Level: After navigating either wing, you can access the upper levels of the Main Hall.
  • Clock Tower Entrance: The path to the Clock Tower is located on the upper-right side of the Main Hall, often guarded by a powerful enemy like a Bone Pillar.
  • Boss Chamber Entrance: The direct path to the boss of this area, typically a larger, more challenging foe, is usually found by continuing straight through the upper central area. Ensure you're well-equipped and have full health before proceeding.
