Castlevania is rife with hidden items and secret passages, often concealed within seemingly ordinary blocks. Always whip suspicious-looking blocks, especially those that appear isolated, out of place, or at the end of platforms. Many Pot Roasts, 1-Ups, and even powerful sub-weapon upgrades like the Double/Triple Shot are found this way. Some walls can also be broken to reveal hidden passages or shortcuts, though these are rarer. For example, in Stage 1-1, a Pot Roast is hidden in the block above the second set of stairs. In Stage 5-1, several Pot Roasts are hidden in the walls of the long hallway. Developing a keen eye for environmental clues and a habit of whipping every suspicious block will reward you with invaluable resources and power-ups, making your journey significantly easier.
