Mastering the Tech Point (TP) and skill learning system is fundamental to maximizing your party's combat effectiveness in Chrono Trigger. TP is the resource used to unleash powerful Tech skills, and learning new skills is essential for unlocking devastating combos and adapting to various enemy challenges.

Each character has a unique set of Techs they can learn as they level up and accumulate TP. These skills range from offensive attacks and defensive buffs to healing and status-altering abilities. Furthermore, Chrono Trigger introduces the innovative Dual and Triple Tech system, allowing characters to combine their individual skills for even more potent effects, creating dynamic and strategic combat encounters.

Here's how the Tech Point and Skill Learning system works:

• Earning Tech Points (TP): TP is earned alongside Experience Points (EXP) after winning battles. The amount of TP gained depends on the enemies defeated and the actions taken during combat.
• Learning Tech Skills: Characters automatically learn new Tech skills as they reach certain character levels. Some advanced Techs may require a specific amount of TP to be accumulated or learned in conjunction with another character's skill.
• Using Tech Skills: To use a Tech skill, select 'Tech' from the battle command menu. Each Tech consumes a certain amount of TP. It's important to manage your TP reserves, especially during longer dungeons or challenging boss fights.
• Dual Techs: These are special attacks that two characters can perform together. They require both characters to be present in the active party and to have learned their respective prerequisite Techs. The availability of a Dual Tech is often indicated in the Tech menu.
• Triple Techs: Similar to Dual Techs, these are powerful combined attacks involving three characters. They require specific character combinations and prerequisite Techs to be learned by all three participants.
• Tech Point Management: Conserve TP by using basic attacks when appropriate, and utilize items like Ethers or Mid-Ethers to restore TP when needed.
