Chrono Trigger's extensive post-game content is primarily focused on its 13 unique endings, which are unlocked through strategic use of the New Game Plus (NG+) feature. These endings offer a deep dive into the consequences of the player's actions and the myriad possibilities of the game's timeline.

After completing the game, you can save your cleared data. Loading this save file allows you to choose 'New Game +' or 'Continue +'. New Game + lets you restart the adventure from the beginning with your character levels, Techs, Gold, and most equipment intact. This is crucial for accessing the majority of the game's endings, as many require fighting Lavos at different points in time.

The 'Time Egg' is a key item that, when carried over into NG+, allows you to challenge Lavos at any point in the game's history. This freedom is what unlocks the vast majority of the endings. For example, confronting Lavos in 10,000 B.C. will yield a different ending than facing it in 2,300 A.D.
