The Fall of Zeal
The Fall of Zeal is a cataclysmic event that marks a turning point in Chrono Trigger's narrative, showcasing the devastating consequences of unchecked ambition and the misuse of powerful magic. This pivotal moment in history sees the technologically advanced kingdom of Zeal meet its tragic end, forever altering the course of the world and its inhabitants.
To witness and potentially influence the Fall of Zeal, players must first acquire the two Dragon Tear fragments: the Tear of Love and the Tear of Hate. The Tear of Love is obtained from Fort Dragonia in Another World, while the Tear of Hate is found in Fort Dragonia in the Home World. Once both fragments are in possession, You must travel to Divine Dragon Falls, an unmarked location on the world map situated between Arni Village and Hydra Marshes in Another World. Upon reaching the cave at the back of the falls, navigate to the deepest part of the cave on the west side. Here, two pedestals await. Using the Tear of Love and the Tear of Hate on these pedestals will trigger the formation of the Chrono Cross. If attempted before reaching Chronopolis, a message will indicate it is too early.
The Chrono Cross is a legendary artifact of immense power, crucial for resolving the game's central conflict. Its creation is directly linked to the events surrounding Zeal's downfall, symbolizing the culmination of ancient magic and the desperate hope for salvation. After its creation, the Chrono Cross is added to your Element inventory and can be equipped, most notably to Serge, to harness its full potential. This artifact is not just a key item but a testament to the player's journey through time and their efforts to mend the fractured timeline.
