As your empire grows, you'll begin to specialize in one of the three Affinities: Purity, Harmony, or Supremacy. Each Affinity offers unique unit upgrades, buildings, and victory conditions. Your choices in the Technology Web, Virtues, and even your interactions with alien life will contribute to your Affinity level. Mid-game is also when you should focus on expanding your territory. Identify good locations for new cities, prioritizing strategic resources and defensible positions. Building Explorers and Workers should be a constant priority. Don't neglect your military; while diplomacy is an option, a strong defense is always prudent, especially against aggressive alien lifeforms or rival Sponsors. Consider building a few Soldiers or Marines to protect your expanding borders and new settlements.
