To optimize your upgrade path, always keep your builders busy. Prioritize offensive upgrades (Laboratory, Army Camps, Barracks, Heroes) over defensive ones, especially at lower Town Hall levels. Max out your offensive capabilities before moving to the next Town Hall. For defenses, prioritize splash damage (Mortars, Wizard Towers) and then single-target defenses. Don't neglect walls!
