Town Hall 10: Inferno Towers and Bowlers
Welcome, Chief, to Town Hall 10! This is a pivotal stage in your Clash of Clans journey, introducing two game-changing elements: the formidable Inferno Towers and the powerful Bowler troop. Mastering these additions is crucial for both offense and defense.
Inferno Towers: Your Defensive Backbone
The Inferno Tower is arguably the most impactful defensive building at TH10. Its ability to deal continuous, escalating damage or target multiple troops simultaneously makes it a nightmare for attackers. You unlock two Inferno Towers at TH10.
Placement Strategies
- Centralized Placement: Always place your Inferno Towers towards the core of your base, protecting your Dark Elixir Storage, Town Hall, and other high-value defenses like X-Bows.
- Multi-Target Mode: For general defense against diverse armies (like Hog Riders, Miners, or Witches), Multi-Target mode is often preferred. This mode can hit up to five targets, making it excellent for swarming troops. Position them to cover areas where mass troops are likely to converge.
- Single-Target Mode: Single-Target mode is devastating against high-hitpoint troops like Golems, Lava Hounds, and Pekkas. Consider using one Single-Target and one Multi-Target Inferno Tower, or both in Single-Target if you frequently face tank-heavy attacks. Place Single-Target Infernos in compartments that tanks will enter early, allowing them to ramp up damage quickly.
- Compartmentalization: Ensure your Inferno Towers are well-protected by walls and other defenses. Avoid placing them in easily accessible compartments where they can be quickly destroyed by a Queen Walk or a few Wall Breakers.
- Air Defense Synergy: Pair Inferno Towers with Air Defenses to create deadly zones for air attacks. Multi-Target Infernos can whittle down Lava Hounds while Air Defenses focus on Balloons or Dragons.
Upgrade Priority
Your Inferno Towers should be among your top defensive upgrade priorities. The increase in damage output, especially the ramp-up speed for Single-Target, is significant. Aim to get both to at least Level 2 as quickly as possible, then push for Level 3.
Bowlers: The Wall-Breaking Powerhouse
The Bowler is a Dark Elixir troop unlocked in the Dark Barracks at TH10. These blue giants throw boulders that bounce twice, hitting two targets. This unique ability makes them incredibly effective at clearing defenses behind walls.
Offensive Strategies with Bowlers
- Bowler Walk/Smash: This is a popular and powerful attack strategy.
- Funneling: Start by creating a strong funnel using Pekkas, Golems, or Wizards on the flanks. This ensures your Bowlers move into the core of the base.
- Main Push: Deploy your Golems/Pekkas as tanks, followed by your Bowlers. Use a few Wizards behind them for additional cleanup and to help maintain the funnel.
- Healers: Crucially, deploy 4-6 Healers behind your Bowlers. The Healers will keep your Bowlers alive as they tear through the base.
- Wall Breakers/Jump Spells: Use Wall Breakers or a Jump Spell to open up the initial layers of walls, guiding your Bowlers towards the Town Hall and Inferno Towers.
- Rage Spells: Drop Rage Spells on your Bowlers and Healers as they enter the core, especially when engaging Inferno Towers or multiple high-damage defenses.
- Freeze Spells: Carry 1-2 Freeze Spells to temporarily disable crucial defenses like Inferno Towers (especially Single-Target) or X-Bows that are targeting your Bowlers.
- Poison Spell: Always bring a Poison Spell for the enemy Clan Castle troops.
- Clan Castle Troops: Request Bowlers in your Clan Castle for extra firepower, or a Golem/Pekka for additional tanking.
- Queen Charge Bowlers: Combine a Queen Charge (Queen + Healers) on one side to create a wide funnel or take out key defenses, then deploy your Bowlers and tanks on another side, often with Jump Spells to meet in the core.
- Targeting: Bowlers excel at clearing defenses that are slightly behind walls. Their bouncing boulders can hit structures that would normally require Wall Breakers or a Jump Spell to reach directly. Prioritize aiming them at compartments with multiple defenses.
Upgrade Priority
Once you unlock Bowlers, prioritize upgrading them in your Dark Barracks and then in your Laboratory. Max-level Bowlers are significantly more resilient and deal substantially more damage, making your offensive pushes much more reliable.
General TH10 Progression Tips
- Resource Management: Dark Elixir becomes extremely important at TH10 for upgrading your Archer Queen, Barbarian King, and Bowlers. Prioritize raids that offer high Dark Elixir rewards.
- Army Camps: Upgrade your Army Camps immediately to increase your troop capacity. More troops mean more offensive power.
- Spell Factory/Dark Spell Factory: Ensure these are maxed out to unlock all spell slots and new spells like the Skeleton Spell or Bat Spell (though Bat Spell is more prominent at TH11).
- Clan Castle: Upgrade your Clan Castle to hold more troops and spells, which is vital for both offense and defense.
- Heroes: Continue to upgrade your Archer Queen and Barbarian King relentlessly. Their abilities and raw power are indispensable.
TH10 is a thrilling stage where strategic defense and powerful new offensive options converge. Master your Inferno Towers and unleash the might of the Bowlers to dominate the battlefield!
