Welcome to Town Hall 7, Chief! This is a pivotal stage in your Clash of Clans journey, where you unlock some of the most iconic and powerful elements of the game: Dragons and Dark Elixir. Mastering TH7 sets the foundation for advanced strategies and resource management. Get ready to dominate!

Prioritizing Your Upgrades

Upon reaching Town Hall 7, your immediate focus should be on getting critical new buildings and upgrades online. Efficient resource management is key to minimizing your time at this Town Hall level.

Laboratory: This is your absolute top priority. The sooner you upgrade your Laboratory, the sooner you can start researching powerful new troops like the Dragon and the Minion, and enhancing your existing forces.
Spell Factory: Upgrade your Spell Factory to unlock the game-changing Rage Spell. This spell is essential for Dragon attacks and many other strategies.
Army Camps: Max out your Army Camps immediately. Each upgrade increases your troop capacity, which is crucial for larger, more effective armies. You'll gain a significant advantage with a higher troop count.
Dark Elixir Storage & Drill: Build your new Dark Elixir Storage and Dark Elixir Drill as soon as possible. Upgrade the Drill to level 3 to start passively generating this precious resource. Your storage should be upgraded to accommodate the cost of your Barbarian King.
Barracks: Build your new Barracks and upgrade it to unlock the Dragon. Once you have one Barracks training Dragons, focus on upgrading your other Barracks to reduce training times.
Clan Castle: Upgrade your Clan Castle to level 3. This increases your troop capacity for Clan War donations and defensive reinforcements, allowing you to hold Dragons or other high-tier troops.
Defenses: Once the core offensive and resource buildings are underway, begin upgrading your defenses. Focus on new defenses first (e.g., the third Mortar, new Archer Tower, new Cannon, Air Defense) to get them on the map, then bring existing defenses up to par.

Unlocking Dark Elixir and the Barbarian King

Town Hall 7 introduces Dark Elixir, a rare and valuable resource used for powerful troops and heroes. Your primary goal with Dark Elixir at TH7 will be to acquire your first Hero: the Barbarian King.

Acquiring Dark Elixir:

Dark Elixir Drill: Build and upgrade your Dark Elixir Drill to level 3. This provides a steady, albeit slow, income of Dark Elixir.
Raiding: This will be your main source of Dark Elixir. Look for bases with exposed Dark Elixir Storages or full Dark Elixir Drills.
- Troop Composition for Dark Elixir Raids:
  - Giant-Healer: A reliable strategy. Deploy Giants to tank defenses, followed by Wall Breakers to open up compartments. Healers keep your Giants alive. Use Wizards or Archers for cleanup and to target the Dark Elixir Storage.
  - B.A.R.C.H. (Barbarians, Archers, Goblins): A cheap and effective farming army. Use Barbarians to tank, Archers for ranged damage, and Goblins to rush storages once defenses are distracted or destroyed. Prioritize bases with easily accessible Dark Elixir.
  - Lightning Spell Strategy: If a base has a full Dark Elixir Storage and its Air Defenses are weak or far from the storage, you can use three Lightning Spells to destroy the storage and steal a significant amount of Dark Elixir. This is a risky but sometimes necessary tactic for quick gains.

Summoning the Barbarian King:

Once you have accumulated 10,000 Dark Elixir, head to the Shop and purchase the Barbarian King. Place him on your base. He is an invaluable asset for both offense and defense, and you should aim to upgrade him to level 5 at TH7 to unlock his Iron Fist ability.

Dragon Attacks: Your TH7 War Strategy

The Dragon is the undisputed king of Town Hall 7 Clan Wars. Learning to execute a successful Dragon attack is crucial for securing 3-star victories.

Dragon Army Composition:

10 Dragons: This is the standard composition.
3 Lightning Spells: Used to destroy one Air Defense.
Clan Castle Troops: Request a Dragon or Balloons for additional firepower.

Dragon Attack Strategy (Mass Dragon with Lightning):

Scout the Base: Identify the location of the three Air Defenses. Determine which Air Defense is the most problematic or central.
Destroy an Air Defense: Deploy all three Lightning Spells on the chosen Air Defense. Aim precisely to ensure its destruction.
Create a Funnel: Deploy one Dragon on each side of your intended entry point. This "funneling" ensures your main Dragon force doesn't fly around the base perimeter but instead heads directly towards the remaining Air Defenses and the core. Wait for these Dragons to clear a path.
Deploy Main Dragon Force: Once the funnel is established, deploy the remaining 8 Dragons in a line or cluster towards the center of the base, aiming for the remaining Air Defenses.
Deploy Clan Castle Troops: Release your Clan Castle troops (e.g., Dragon, Balloons) behind your main Dragon force to support the push.
Victory!: Watch your Dragons incinerate the enemy base.

Pro Tip: If the Air Defenses are close together, you might consider taking Rage Spells instead of Lightning Spells. Deploy Dragons, then use Rage Spells to boost their damage and speed as they approach the Air Defenses.

Base Design Considerations

At TH7, you'll need a base design that protects your newly acquired Dark Elixir and defends against common TH7 attack strategies, especially other Dragon attacks.

Centralize Air Defenses: Your Air Defenses are your most important defensive buildings against Dragons. Place them towards the center of your base, protected by other structures.
Staggered Walls: Use multiple layers of walls to slow down ground troops.
Dark Elixir Storage Protection: Bury your Dark Elixir Storage deep within your base, surrounded by high-hitpoint buildings and strong defenses like the Barbarian King, Hidden Teslas, and Air Defenses.
Clan Castle Centralization: A centralized Clan Castle ensures that defensive troops are harder to lure out and can defend a larger portion of your base.
Trap Placement: Place Seeking Air Mines near Air Defenses to target Dragons. Air Bombs should be spread out to deal splash damage to groups of Dragons. Spring Traps are effective against Giants and Hog Riders.
