Crafting & Resources

Welcome, adventurer, to the essential guide to crafting and resource management in CloverPit! Mastering these systems is crucial for survival, progression, and unlocking powerful new gear. This section will walk you through everything from gathering basic materials to forging legendary items.

Understanding the Crafting Interface

The crafting interface is accessed via your inventory menu (default key: 'C'). Once open, you'll see several tabs:

  • Basic Crafting: For simple recipes requiring minimal tools.
  • Forge: Requires a Blacksmith's Anvil. Used for metalworking and weapon/armor creation.
  • Alchemy: Requires an Alchemist's Bench. Used for potions, elixirs, and elemental reagents.
  • Engineering: Requires a Tinkerer's Workbench. Used for complex mechanisms, traps, and utility items.

Each crafting station offers unique recipes. Always check the available recipes at a station before heading out to gather!

Gathering Essential Resources

Resources are scattered throughout CloverPit's diverse environments. Here's a breakdown of key materials and where to find them:

Tier 1 Materials (Early Game)

  • Rough Wood: Abundant in the Whispering Woods and the outskirts of Oakhaven Village. Harvest from small trees and fallen logs. Requires a Stone Axe.
  • Flint Shards: Found near riverbeds and in shallow caves within the Sunken Grotto. Can be picked up by hand.
  • Coarse Leather: Dropped by Forest Boars and Dire Wolves in the Whispering Woods. Best hunted with a Crude Bow or Stone Dagger.
  • Iron Ore: Located in the Forgotten Mines, accessible after completing the "Miner's Plea" quest. Requires a Stone Pickaxe.
  • Riverweed: Grows along the banks of the Emerald River. Easily gathered by hand. Essential for early-game healing potions.

Tier 2 Materials (Mid Game)

  • Sturdy Timber: Harvested from ancient trees in the Elderwood Forest. Requires an Iron Axe. Beware of Gnarled Treants guarding these trees.
  • Silver Veins: Found deeper within the Forgotten Mines and in the Crystal Caves. Requires an Iron Pickaxe.
  • Thick Hide: Dropped by Grizzled Bears in the Elderwood Forest and Swamp Crocodiles in the Murky Fen.
  • Glowstone Dust: Mined from glowing rock formations in the Crystal Caves. Provides light and is crucial for enchanting.
  • Crimson Bloom: A rare flower found on high ledges in the Crimson Peaks. Often guarded by Mountain Harpies.

Crafting Walkthrough: Your First Tools & Gear

Let's get you started with some basic, yet vital, crafting recipes:

Step 1: The Stone Axe

  1. Gather 3 Rough Wood from the Whispering Woods.
  2. Gather 2 Flint Shards from the Sunken Grotto.
  3. Open your inventory (C) and navigate to the Basic Crafting tab.
  4. Select the "Stone Axe" recipe.
  5. Click "Craft." You now have a basic tool for faster wood gathering!

Step 2: Crude Bow & Stone Arrows

  1. Gather 4 Rough Wood (use your new Stone Axe!).
  2. Gather 1 Coarse Leather (hunt a Forest Boar).
  3. Gather 5 Flint Shards.
  4. In the Basic Crafting tab, craft the "Crude Bow."
  5. Next, craft "Stone Arrows" (requires 1 Rough Wood and 1 Flint Shard per 5 arrows). Aim for at least 20-30 arrows.

Step 3: Healing Potion (Minor)

  1. Gather 2 Riverweed from the Emerald River.
  2. Gather 1 Empty Vial (can be found in loot chests or purchased from the Oakhaven General Store).
  3. Travel to an Alchemist's Bench (the first one is usually found in Oakhaven Village).
  4. Interact with the bench and select the "Alchemy" tab.
  5. Craft the "Healing Potion (Minor)." This will restore a small amount of health.

Advanced Crafting Tips

  • Resource Nodes Reset: Most resource nodes (trees, ore veins, plants) will respawn after a certain in-game time. Keep an eye on your in-game clock!
  • Tool Quality Matters: Higher quality tools (e.g., Iron Pickaxe vs. Stone Pickaxe) will gather resources faster and sometimes yield bonus materials.
  • Storage Management: Resources can quickly fill your inventory. Utilize the storage chests in your home base or at friendly settlements. Consider crafting a Large Backpack early on for increased carrying capacity (recipe found in the Basic Crafting tab, requires 3 Thick Hide, 2 Sturdy Timber).
  • Trade & Barter: Don't underestimate the value of trading with NPCs. Sometimes, a rare material can be bought for a reasonable price, saving you a dangerous expedition. Check merchants in Oakhaven Village and the Desert Oasis.
  • Recipe Discovery: Some advanced recipes are not immediately available. They might be found on scrolls in ancient ruins, dropped by specific enemies, or given as rewards for completing challenging quests. Always read any lore books or notes you find!

By diligently gathering resources and mastering the crafting stations, you'll be well-equipped to face any challenge CloverPit throws your way!
