The Whispering Woods Rune Sequence

The ancient runes guarding the entrance to the Sunken Grotto can be a real head-scratcher. Follow these steps precisely to unlock the path forward:

  1. Locate the Elder's Journal: You'll find this crucial item tucked away in a loose floorboard within the Abandoned Watchtower, located at the northern edge of the Whispering Woods. Interact with the dusty bookshelf to reveal the hidden compartment.
  2. Decipher the Rune Clues: The journal contains a series of cryptic poems. Pay close attention to the capitalized words, as these correspond to the elemental runes. For example, "The Fire within burns bright" indicates the Fire Rune.
  3. Identify the Rune Pedestals: There are five rune pedestals surrounding the Grotto entrance. Each pedestal depicts a different elemental symbol: Fire, Water, Earth, Air, and Spirit.
  4. Input the Sequence: Based on the Elder's Journal, the correct sequence is:
    • First: Fire Rune (The burning ember)
    • Second: Water Rune (The flowing stream)
    • Third: Earth Rune (The sturdy mountain)
    • Fourth: Air Rune (The swirling gust)
    • Fifth: Spirit Rune (The ethereal wisp)
    Interact with each pedestal in the correct order. A soft chime will confirm each successful input. If you make a mistake, all runes will reset, and you'll need to start from the beginning.
  5. Claim Your Reward: Once the sequence is complete, the ancient stone door to the Sunken Grotto will slowly grind open, revealing the path to the next chapter of your adventure!

The Clockwork Contraption of the Sky-Spires

Deep within the treacherous Sky-Spires, a complex clockwork mechanism blocks your ascent to the Celestial Observatory. This puzzle requires precision and understanding of its intricate gears.

Required Items:

  • Worn Gear Set (Small, Medium, Large): Found in a chest behind a waterfall on the Cloudfall Plateau.
  • Lubricating Oil: Acquired from the merchant "Grizelda" in the Floating Market for 50 gold coins.
  • Tinkerer's Manual: Located on a high shelf in the Forgotten Library, accessible by using the "Levitate" spell.

Assembly Steps:

  1. Consult the Tinkerer's Manual: Open the manual to the "Sky-Spire Mechanism" diagram. This diagram clearly illustrates the correct placement of each gear.
  2. Apply Lubricating Oil: Before placing any gears, use the Lubricating Oil on the central axle of the contraption. This will prevent the gears from seizing.
  3. Place the Large Gear: Position the Large Gear onto the lowest, widest peg on the contraption's base. Ensure it clicks firmly into place.
  4. Place the Medium Gear: Attach the Medium Gear to the peg directly above and to the right of the Large Gear. It should interlock with the Large Gear's teeth.
  5. Place the Small Gear: Finally, place the Small Gear onto the highest, leftmost peg. This gear must interlock with the Medium Gear.
  6. Activate the Mechanism: Once all gears are correctly placed and interlocked, a small lever will appear on the side of the contraption. Pull the lever. If successful, the massive stone elevator will begin its ascent, granting you access to the Celestial Observatory. If the gears grind or fail to move, re-check your placements against the Tinkerer's Manual.
