Bounty Board Missions

The Bounty Board serves as a vital hub for adventurers seeking to earn their keep and test their mettle in the world of CloverPit. Located prominently in the heart of every major settlement – typically found near the town square or just outside the main tavern – these boards offer a rotating selection of repeatable missions. These missions primarily involve hunting down specific elite monsters, clearing out infested areas, or recovering valuable lost items.

Engaging with Bounty Board missions is an excellent way to consistently acquire gold, experience points, and crucial crafting materials. The bounties refresh daily, ensuring a fresh set of challenges and opportunities for character progression. While lower-tier bounties can be tackled with basic gear, higher-tier contracts often demand specific equipment, advanced strategies, and a well-honed understanding of enemy weaknesses.

Accessing and Accepting Bounties

Interacting with the Bounty Board is straightforward:

  1. Locate the Board: Look for the distinctive wooden board adorned with various parchment scrolls. In Oakhaven, it's directly opposite the "Rusty Flagon" tavern.
  2. Browse Available Bounties: Approach and interact with the board (default key: E). A UI panel will display all currently available bounties, categorized by difficulty.
  3. Review Details: Click on a bounty to view its specific objectives, target location, recommended power level, and potential rewards. Pay close attention to any special conditions or warnings.
  4. Accept the Bounty: If you're ready to undertake the challenge, click the "Accept Contract" button. The bounty will then appear in your quest log under the "Contracts" tab. You can hold up to 3 active bounties at a time.

Types of Bounties

Bounty Board missions generally fall into a few distinct categories:

  • Elite Monster Hunts: Track and defeat a powerful, named elite enemy. These often have unique abilities and higher health pools than standard enemies.
  • Infestation Clearances: Eliminate a set number of specific enemy types within a designated area. The area will typically be marked on your map.
  • Resource Recovery: Locate and retrieve a lost artifact or a specific quantity of rare materials from a dangerous zone.
  • Patrol Disruptions: Ambush and defeat a group of patrolling enemies, often mini-bosses or specialized units.

Example: "The Howling Maw" (Higher-Tier Bounty)

Let's break down a typical higher-tier bounty to illustrate the depth involved:

Bounty Details:

  • Name: The Howling Maw
  • Objective: Eliminate the Alpha Direwolf, "Fenris," and its pack.
  • Location: Direwolf Den, located deep within the Whispering Woods (west of Oakhaven).
  • Recommended Power Level: 1200+
  • Threat Level: High
  • Special Conditions: Fenris is highly resistant to Frost damage. Vulnerable to Fire and Bleed effects.

Rewards:

Item Quantity Notes
Gold 1,500 Standard currency.
Experience Points 3,000 Significant boost for character leveling.
Direwolf Alpha Pelt 1 Rare crafting material for Legendary armor.
Essence of Fury 3 Used in high-tier potion crafting or enchantment.
Random Epic Gear Piece 1 Guaranteed drop, scaled to player level.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough:

  1. Preparation:
    • Gear Check: Ensure your gear's power level is at or above 1200. Prioritize armor with high physical defense.
    • Weapon Choice: Equip a weapon with Fire or Bleed enchantments. Avoid Frost damage.
    • Consumables: Stock up on Health Potions (at least 5-7), Stamina Potions (3-5), and a few Flame Flasks (craftable at any Alchemist's Bench).
    • Companions: Consider bringing a companion with crowd control abilities or a damage-over-time specialization. Lyra, with her Ignite Arrow, is an excellent choice.
  2. Travel to Whispering Woods:
    • From Oakhaven, head west through the main gate. Follow the dirt path until it branches north into the Whispering Woods.
    • Continue along the main trail, ignoring minor detours, until you reach a clearing marked by ancient, gnarled trees.
  3. Locate the Direwolf Den:
    • The Den entrance is a cave mouth hidden behind a large rock formation in the northern part of the clearing. Look for paw prints leading towards it.
    • Be cautious; several regular Direwolves patrol the entrance. Clear them out before entering.
  4. Navigate the Den:
    • The Direwolf Den is a linear cave system. Expect ambushes from smaller Direwolves and Direwolf Pups.
    • Use your area-of-effect abilities to clear groups efficiently.
    • The path will eventually open into a large cavern. This is Fenris's lair.
  5. Encounter Fenris, the Alpha Direwolf:
    • Fenris will be accompanied by 3-4 Elite Direwolf Guards. Focus on eliminating the guards first to reduce incoming damage.
    • Fenris's Abilities:
      • Alpha Howl: Briefly stuns and buffs nearby Direwolves. Interrupt this if possible.
      • Rending Claws: A rapid three-hit melee combo that inflicts Bleed. Dodge or block this.
      • Pounce: Fenris leaps at a distant target, dealing heavy damage. A red indicator will show the landing zone; move out of it.
    • Strategy:
      • Apply Fire and Bleed effects consistently. Flame Flasks are excellent for burst fire damage.
      • Maintain distance when Fenris uses Rending Claws, then close in for attacks.
      • Save your ultimate abilities for when Fenris is below 50% health, as it becomes more aggressive.
      • If you brought Lyra, command her to focus her Ignite Arrow on Fenris.
  6. Collect Rewards:
    • Once Fenris is defeated, loot its corpse for the Direwolf Alpha Pelt and other valuable items.
    • The bounty will automatically complete, and your rewards (Gold, XP, Essence of Fury, Random Epic Gear) will be added to your inventory/character.

Common Pitfalls and Tips

  • Underestimation: Never underestimate a bounty's recommended power level. It's a guideline, not a suggestion. Over-gearing is better than under-gearing.
  • Elemental Weaknesses: Always check the bounty details for elemental vulnerabilities or resistances. Exploiting weaknesses can drastically shorten combat.
  • Crowd Control: Many elite monsters are accompanied by adds. Prioritize crowd control on these smaller enemies to prevent being overwhelmed.
  • Consumables: Don't hoard potions! Use them proactively to stay healthy, especially during boss encounters.
  • Daily Refresh: Bounties refresh daily at server reset (typically 00:00 GMT). Check back regularly for new challenges and lucrative contracts.
  • Repeatability: While specific named bounties might not reappear immediately, the general types of bounties (e.g., "Elite Direwolf Hunt") will always be available, offering consistent farming opportunities.
