Lord of Thunder Strategy (Hellfire Knight DLC)

The Lord of Thunder, a formidable boss introduced in the Hellfire Knight DLC, commands the raw power of lightning, making it a perilous encounter within its fiery domain. This boss utilizes a massive hammer infused with electrical energy, delivering devastating AOE slams and rapid electrical discharges. Its primary attack pattern involves a series of powerful hammer swings, often followed by a charged lightning strike that covers a wide area. When it begins to charge its hammer with electricity, indicated by a crackling aura, it is preparing for a powerful lightning attack. The safest approach is to sprint away from its immediate vicinity or, if you are confident in your timing, dodge *through* the electrical wave just as it dissipates. The Lord of Thunder has a significant telegraph for its ground slam; it will raise its hammer high above its head before bringing it down with immense force. This is your opportunity to dodge *towards* the boss, aiming for its flank, and land 2-3 hits before it recovers. If you are finding its electrical attacks overwhelming, consider equipping the Resilience passive ability, which grants a 20% resistance to all elemental damage. The Lord of Thunder is particularly susceptible to ice damage. Blood Codes that excel in ice-based Gifts, such as the Ishtar Blood Code, will be highly effective. Look for opportunities to interrupt its longer casting animations, such as its summoning of lightning pillars, by landing a charged heavy attack. Successfully staggering the Lord of Thunder will open it up for a critical hit, dealing substantial damage. Be mindful of the environmental hazards; the arena is often filled with pools of lava that inflict burning damage over time. Prioritize staying mobile and avoiding these hazardous zones while focusing on the boss's attack patterns.
