Stamina Management & Dodging
Effective stamina management is the cornerstone of survival in Code Vein II. Every action you take in combat, from attacking to sprinting and, most importantly, dodging, consumes stamina. The stamina gauge, represented by a green bar beneath your health, depletes rapidly with aggressive play. Running out of stamina leaves you vulnerable, unable to perform defensive maneuvers or escape dangerous situations, making it a prime target for enemies like the swift Hollow Soldiers. Therefore, understanding your stamina's limits and replenishing it efficiently is paramount.
Dodging is your primary defensive tool, allowing you to evade incoming attacks. The dodge maneuver consumes a significant portion of your stamina, typically around 20-25% of the total gauge for a standard dodge. Timing is everything; a well-timed dodge will allow you to phase through enemy attacks, leaving them open for a counter-attack. Over-reliance on dodging without considering stamina will lead to a swift demise. A common mistake is to spam the dodge button, which quickly depletes your stamina and leaves you defenseless. Instead, observe enemy attack patterns and dodge only when necessary.
To manage stamina effectively, incorporate short bursts of action followed by periods of recovery. After a successful dodge or a short combo, allow your stamina to regenerate. Sprinting also consumes stamina, so use it judiciously for repositioning or escaping, not for prolonged engagement. Certain Blood Codes, like the 'Vanguard' code, offer passive bonuses to stamina regeneration or increase the maximum stamina pool. Equipping Gifts that enhance stamina recovery, such as 'Quickstep Boost', can also be incredibly beneficial. Remember that resting at a Mistle will fully replenish your stamina, but this is only possible outside of combat. Prioritize learning enemy tells and attack timings to minimize unnecessary dodges and conserve your precious stamina.
