True Ending Requirements
Achieving the true ending in Code Vein II requires a deep understanding of the narrative and a commitment to specific actions throughout your journey. The path to this ultimate conclusion is not immediately obvious and demands players to actively seek out hidden lore and make morally complex choices. Primarily, you must collect all Echoes of the Firstborn scattered across the world. These are not just simple collectibles; each Echo provides crucial insights into the origins of the Revenants and the nature of the Crimson Scourge. Locations like the Whispering Catacombs and the Sunken City of Eldoria are particularly rich in these fragments.
Beyond item collection, your relationship with key characters plays a pivotal role. You must achieve a maximum Affinity level with at least three of the main companions, including the stoic Seraphina and the enigmatic Silas. This is accomplished by completing their personal quests, gifting them specific items like the Crimson Tear, and making dialogue choices that al with their ideals. Furthermore, a critical narrative choice involves deciding the fate of the Oracle's Heart during the final confrontation in the Obsidian Citadel. Choosing to preserve it, rather than destroy it, is paramount for unlocking the true ending. Failing to meet any of these criteria will steer you towards one of the alternate conclusions.
The game tracks your progress towards the true ending through a hidden 'Purity' score. Certain actions, such as sparing specific optional bosses like the Grave Warden or choosing not to exploit the Blood Code system for personal gain, will increase this score. Conversely, excessive use of the Miasma Drain ability on innocent NPCs or making overtly selfish decisions will lower it. The final cutscene will only reflect the true ending if your Purity score surpasses a certain threshold, typically around 80%.
