Finding the First Mistle

Your journey in Code Vein II begins in the desolate ruins of the Forgotten Hamlet. Shortly after the initial tutorial sequence and your first encounter with a weakened Lost, you'll be guided by your companion, the stoic Eva. She will point you towards the first crucial checkpoint: the First Mistle. This Mistle acts as your sanctuary, allowing you to rest, replenish your Ichor, and manage your Blood Codes. To reach it, follow the linear path forward. You'll need to defeat a pair of basic Lost. Pay attention to their attack patterns; a well-timed Guard (L1 on PS5) can deflect their lunges, leaving them open for a Light Attack (Square on PS5). After clearing the immediate threats, Eva will indicate a small, overgrown alcove to your left. Inside this alcove, nestled amongst rubble, you will find the glowing, ethereal First Mistle. Interacting with it will trigger a brief cutscene, solidifying its importance as your primary respawn and hub point for this early section of the game. Remember to activate it immediately, as it will also serve as your fast travel point once you discover other Mistles.

Before proceeding, take a moment to examine your starting Blood Code, the Stinger. It offers a balanced approach to combat. You'll also have a basic set of Ores for potential upgrades later. The area immediately surrounding the First Mistle is relatively safe, allowing you to practice your basic attack combos and dodges (Circle on PS5) without immediate pressure. Be mindful of the limited Stamina regeneration; over-extending your attacks will leave you vulnerable. The path forward from the First Mistle leads towards a more open area, but for now, familiarize yourself with the Mistle's functions. You can access your inventory, equip different Gifts, and even change your Blood Code if you've acquired others. For this initial segment, sticking with the Stinger and focusing on defensive play is recommended until you gain more confidence.
