Master navigation through the Flooded Halls of the Sunken Cathedral in Code Vein II. Avoid traps and enemies to progress.

Navigating the Flooded Halls

The Sunken Cathedral is a labyrinth of waterlogged corridors and treacherous chambers. Navigating these flooded halls requires careful observation and a strategic approach to combat. The water itself can impede your movement, slowing your dodge and making it harder to escape enemy attacks. Several sections of the halls are partially submerged, requiring you to wade through waist-deep water, which reduces your Movement Speed by approximately 30%. Be particularly wary of the Drowned Ones that lurk beneath the surface; they can emerge unexpectedly to drag you down. Their primary attack involves a grapple that deals significant damage and can inflict the Slow status effect. A successful Quick Dodge (Circle on PS5) just as they lunge is crucial for avoiding this. The visual cues for their emergence are subtle, often marked by ripples on the water's surface.

Within these halls, you'll encounter new threats, including the Corrupted Cleric. These enemies are ranged attackers, flinging bolts of dark energy that track your movement. Their projectiles have a moderate cooldown of about 5 seconds. It's advisable to use cover provided by the crumbling architecture to close the distance. Once you're within melee range, they are relatively fragile. Look for opportunities to use your Drain Attack (R2 on PS5) after staggering them; this not only deals damage but also restores a significant amount of Ichor, which is vital for using your powerful Gifts. Keep an eye on the environment for pressure plates and levers, as these often control water levels or open new pathways. Some of these mechanisms might be hidden behind breakable crates or illusory walls. The constant dripping of water and the eerie echoes create a disorienting atmosphere, so rely on your minimap and Eva's occasional prompts to stay on course. The goal is to reach the central chamber where the Water Lock Mechanism awaits.
