Phase 1: Ice Shard Barrage
The Successor of the Breath is a large, ice-elemental boss. Its attacks include summoning large ice shards that track you, a freezing breath attack in a cone, and powerful ground slams that create ice spikes. Staying mobile is paramount in this fight. Continuously circle the boss to avoid its ice shards and breath. When it performs a ground slam, dodge away from the impact zone. Its attacks are generally slow but have a large area of effect. Consider using a weapon with fire elemental damage or fire-based Gifts, as it is weak to fire. Your companion can help draw some aggro, allowing you to get in damage.
Phase 2: Blizzard's Fury
At around 50% health, the Successor of the Breath becomes more aggressive and gains new abilities. It can summon ice clones that mimic its attacks, create a localized blizzard that obscures visibility, and its ice attacks become more frequent and powerful. The blizzard can make it difficult to see its attack tells, so rely on sound cues and your mini-map. Focus on taking out the ice clones quickly if they appear. Continue to exploit its fire weakness. Gifts like 'Voltaic Roar' (if you have it) or 'Blast Bolt' can deal significant damage. Keep your distance when it's charging up its larger attacks.
