Enemy Database
Welcome, Revenant, to the comprehensive Code Vein Enemy Database. Here, you'll find detailed strategies, weaknesses, and item drops for the various Lost and creatures that stand between you and the truth of Vein. Understanding your foes is paramount to survival in this harsh world.
General Combat Tips for All Enemies
- Stamina Management: Always keep an eye on your stamina bar. Dodging, attacking, and blocking all consume stamina. Running out at a critical moment can be fatal.
- Ichor Management: Ichor is your lifeblood for Gifts. Learn which Gifts are most effective against different enemy types and manage your Ichor carefully.
- Companions: Your companion is invaluable. Use their unique Gifts and abilities to your advantage, whether it's drawing aggro, healing, or dealing damage.
- Environmental Awareness: Many areas feature environmental hazards or opportunities. Use narrow corridors to funnel enemies, or high ground for ranged attacks.
- Backstabs and Parries: Mastering these techniques can turn the tide of battle, especially against tougher Lost. Practice the timing!
Common Lost Variants
These are the most frequently encountered enemies in Vein. While individually weak, they can overwhelm you in groups.
Lost (Standard)
The most basic form of the Lost, often found shambling or patrolling in small groups. They typically wield simple melee weapons or attack with their claws.
- Locations: Found almost everywhere, especially in the Ruined City Underground and Parking Garage.
- Strategy:
- Prioritize them if they are part of a larger group.
- A single heavy attack or a short combo can often stagger or defeat them.
- Use area-of-effect Gifts like Flame Barrage or Blast Bolt to clear groups efficiently.
- Easy targets for practicing parries and backstabs.
- Drops: Old World Materials, Awake MJ212.
Lost (Spear)
These Lost wield long spears, giving them a greater reach than their standard counterparts. They often poke from a distance or charge with a thrust.
- Locations: Common in the Area P-9 and Howling White Gorge.
- Strategy:
- Their long reach can be deceptive. Dodge *into* their attacks to get behind them.
- Guard their thrusts, then counter-attack.
- If they charge, a well-timed dodge can leave them vulnerable.
- Drops: Old World Materials, Awake MJ212, occasionally Queen Iron.
Lost (Shield)
Equipped with a sturdy shield, these Lost can block most frontal attacks, making direct assaults difficult.
- Locations: Frequently encountered in the Depths: Den of the Lost and Cathedral of the Sacred Blood.
- Strategy:
- Do NOT attack their shield directly unless you have a strong guard-breaking attack.
- Circle around them for a backstab opportunity.
- Use Gifts that bypass defenses, such as elemental attacks or those with a wide area of effect.
- A well-timed parry can open them up for a critical hit.
- Drops: Old World Materials, Awake MJ212, sometimes Queen Steel.
Specialized Lost
These Lost present more unique challenges and often require specific tactical approaches.
Elite Lost (Axe/Greatsword)
Larger, more heavily armored Lost wielding devastating two-handed weapons. Their attacks are slow but hit incredibly hard.
- Locations: Often found guarding important pathways or items in areas like the Dried-up Trenches and City of Falling Flame.
- Strategy:
- Patience is Key: Do not rush them. Wait for their attack animations to commit.
- Dodge, Don't Block: Their attacks often have high guard break. Dodging through their swings is safer.
- Punish Openings: After a heavy swing, they often have a significant recovery period. Use this to land a few hits.
- Focus on Backstabs: Their large size makes them easier to circle for backstabs.
- Blood Veils: Use a Blood Veil with high mobility or one that enhances your dodge capabilities.
- Drops: Awake MJ310, Pure Blood, rare chance for Loss Shard (L).
Spiked Lost
These grotesque Lost are covered in sharp spikes and often roll or charge at you, dealing piercing damage.
- Locations: Prevalent in the Ridge of Frozen Souls and Provisional Government Outskirts.
- Strategy:
- Ranged Attacks: If you have a ranged Gift or weapon, use it to whittle them down from a safe distance.
- Dodge Sideways: When they roll, dodge to the side rather than backwards to avoid their wide hitboxes.
- Stagger: After they finish a roll or charge, they are often vulnerable to stagger. Use a heavy attack or a powerful Gift.
- Resist Piercing: Equip a Blood Veil or passive Gift that offers resistance to piercing damage if you find yourself struggling.
- Drops: Awake MJ212, Ichor Concentrate.
Lost Assassin
Nimble and aggressive, these Lost move quickly and often attack in rapid succession with dual blades or claws. They can be particularly dangerous in groups.
- Locations: Found in areas requiring precision, such as the Ashen Caverns and Crypt Spire.
- Strategy:
- Prioritize: If they're with other Lost, take them out first due to their high damage output and speed.
- Parry Opportunities: Their rapid attacks make them good candidates for parrying if you can master the timing.
- Stun/Stagger: Use Gifts or attacks that can stun or stagger them to interrupt their combos.
- Focus Fire: If playing with a companion, direct your companion to attack them first.
- Drops: Awake MJ310, Pure Blood, sometimes Loss Shard (M).
