Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Welcome to the FAQ section, where we tackle some of the most common questions and tricky situations you might encounter in the desolate world of Vein. Whether you're stuck on a boss, looking for a specific item, or just need some general guidance, we've got you covered.
Q: How do I get the "Good" or "True" Ending?
Achieving the best endings in Code Vein requires a bit of dedication to uncovering the memories of the Successors. This involves collecting specific Vestiges throughout your journey. Missing even one can lock you out of the desired ending, so pay close attention!
- Collect all Successor Vestiges: For each Successor boss (e.g., Successor of the Ribcage, Successor of the Breath), you must collect all their associated Vestiges before defeating them. These are often found scattered in the boss's respective area.
- Restore Vestiges at Mido: After collecting Vestiges, return to Home Base and speak with Io. She will restore them, revealing crucial memories.
- Interact with the Vestige before the boss: Crucially, before entering the boss arena for a Successor, you will find a glowing Vestige on the ground. Interact with this Vestige to fully restore the Successor's memories. If you defeat the boss without doing this, you will miss the opportunity for that specific Successor's good outcome.
- The "True" Ending Bonus: For the absolute best ending, ensure you also collect all Eos Vestiges. These are typically found after defeating the main Successors and progressing through the story.
If you've missed a Vestige, don't despair entirely! You can always try again in New Game+ or load an earlier save if you have one.
Q: Where can I find specific Blood Codes or powerful equipment early on?
While many Blood Codes and strong weapons are acquired through story progression or defeating bosses, there are a few notable items you can snag relatively early to give yourself an edge.
Early Game Power-Ups:
- Prometheus Blood Code: This excellent Blood Code for melee builds is obtained from Louis at Home Base after completing the Ruined City Underground and the initial events at Home Base. It offers great strength and dexterity scaling.
- Queenslayer Blade: A solid one-handed sword that can carry you through much of the early and mid-game. You receive this as a story reward from Louis after clearing the Ruined City Underground.
- Broadsword: An alternative early weapon found in the Ruined City Underground. From the first Mistle, proceed forward until you reach an area with several enemies. Look for a path leading to a small alcove or dead end where the Broadsword can be picked up. It's a good strength-scaling option.
- Assassin's Sickle: For those favoring dexterity, the Assassin's Sickle is a quick and effective weapon. It's typically found in the Ruined City Underground, usually in a side path or behind some destructible objects near the middle section of the area.
Q: I'm stuck in the Cathedral of the Sacred Blood! How do I navigate this maze?
The Cathedral is infamous for its confusing layout. Here's a general strategy to help you find your way and avoid getting lost:
- Stick to the Walls: When in doubt, try to follow one wall (either left or right) until you find a new path or a landmark. This can help you systematically explore without circling endlessly.
- Look for Distinctive Features: Pay attention to unique architectural elements, broken sections, or specific enemy placements. These can serve as mental markers.
- use the Map: While not always perfectly clear, your in-game map is your best friend. Look for unexplored sections and try to connect paths. Remember that some areas are on different vertical levels, which the map can sometimes obscure.
- Activate Mistles: Prioritize finding and activating Mistles. They act as checkpoints and fast-travel points, making it easier to return to areas you've already explored without having to re-traverse the entire maze.
- Specific Pathfinding Tips (Early Cathedral):
- From the first Mistle, head generally upwards and forwards. You'll often encounter paths that branch left or right.
- Look for areas with multiple ladders or staircases; these usually lead to new sections or shortcuts.
- One common point of confusion is a large open area with several archways. Explore each archway thoroughly, as one will lead to the next main progression point, while others might hide valuable items or dead ends.
Patience is key in the Cathedral. Take your time, clear out enemies to reduce pressure, and don't be afraid to backtrack if you feel completely lost.
