Post-Game Content

Congratulations, Revenant! You've faced down the horrors of Vein and reached one of the game's conclusions. But the fight is far from over. Code Vein offers a robust post-game experience, from chasing alternate endings to tackling the challenging New Game+ mode and exploring the depths of the Depths maps. This section will guide you through maximizing your post-game journey.

Unlocking Alternate Endings

Code Vein features multiple endings, each dependent on your actions throughout the main story, specifically regarding the Vestiges of the Successors. To achieve different outcomes, you'll need to replay the game and make specific choices. Here's a breakdown:

  • Heirs (Bad Ending): This is the default ending if you do not restore any of the Successors' Vestiges. You will simply proceed through the game, defeating each Successor without interacting with their memories.
  • Dwellers in the Dark (Neutral Ending): To achieve this ending, you must restore at least one, but not all, of the Successors' Vestiges. For example, you might restore the Vestiges of the Successor of the Ribcage but leave the others lost.
  • To Eternity (Good Ending): This is considered the "true" ending and requires you to restore all of the Successors' Vestiges. This means collecting every Vestige part for each Successor (Ribcage, Breath, Claw, Throat) and interacting with them at their respective altars after defeating them. Pay close attention during the Memories of Player (Intermission) and subsequent areas to ensure you don't miss any.

Strategy for Ending Chasing:

  1. First Playthrough: Focus on enjoying the story and learning the mechanics. Don't stress too much about Vestiges. You'll likely get the "Heirs" or "Dwellers in the Dark" ending naturally.
  2. Subsequent Playthroughs (New Game+): Use New Game+ to specifically target the endings. Since you retain your levels, equipment, and Blood Codes, you can rush through areas more efficiently.
  3. Vestige Tracking: Keep a checklist of Vestiges. For the "To Eternity" ending, ensure you collect all Vestige parts before defeating the corresponding Successor boss. If you miss one, you can still return to the area before proceeding too far, but it's best to collect them as you go.

New Game+ (NG+)

Upon completing the game, you'll be given the option to start a New Game+. This mode allows you to replay the entire story with increased difficulty but with all your progress carried over. Here's what to expect and how to prepare:

  • What Carries Over:
    • Player Level and Stats
    • All acquired Blood Codes and their associated Gifts
    • All Weapons, Blood Veils, and Accessories
    • All Consumable Items (excluding key story items)
    • All Haze (currency)
    • All materials for weapon/Blood Veil upgrades and transformations
  • What Does NOT Carry Over:
    • Story Progression and Quests
    • Mistle activation status (all Mistles will need to be reactivated)
    • Map discovery (the map will be reset)
    • Key story items (e.g., Vestiges, special keys)
  • Increased Difficulty: Enemies will have more health, deal more damage, and some may have altered attack patterns or new resistances. Bosses will be significantly tougher.
  • Strategies for NG+:
    • Optimize Your Build: Experiment with different Blood Codes and Gifts. NG+ is the perfect time to refine your favorite playstyle or try something completely new. Consider builds focused on high damage output or robust defensive capabilities.
    • Upgrade Everything: Max out your preferred weapons and Blood Veils. +10 weapons with appropriate transformations (e.g., Atlas for strength, Prometheus for dexterity) will be crucial.
    • Stock Up on Consumables: Before starting NG+, purchase a healthy supply of Regen Inducers, Stamina Boosters, and elemental resistance items from Murasame at Home Base.
    • Explore Thoroughly: Even though you've been through these areas before, NG+ can reveal new challenges or simply allow you to appreciate the environments without the initial pressure of progression.

The Depths Maps

The Depths are optional, challenging dungeons that become available as you progress through the main story. They offer unique rewards, including rare materials, powerful Blood Codes, and challenging boss encounters. In the post-game, these become excellent farming locations and testaments to your combat prowess.

  • Accessing Depths Maps: Depths maps are typically found as items in various locations throughout Vein. Once acquired, you can access them from any Mistle.
  • Notable Depths Maps for Post-Game:
    • Den of the Dead: A good early Depths map for farming Haze and basic upgrade materials.
    • Town of Sacrifice: Offers a good challenge and can drop valuable Blood Veils and weapons.
    • Cliffs of Rust: Known for its challenging enemies and potential for rare transformation materials.
    • Void District: A late-game Depths map with high-level enemies and excellent rewards, including advanced Blood Codes and powerful gear.
  • Depths Strategies:
    • Bring a Strong Companion: Companions like Io, Louis, or Yakumo are invaluable for their combat support and healing.
    • Utilize Elemental Resistances: Many Depths maps feature enemies with specific elemental affinities. Equip Blood Veils and Gifts that provide resistance or exploit weaknesses.
    • Clear Every Corner: Depths maps often hide valuable items and rare enemies in obscure corners. Don't rush through.
    • Practice Boss Fights: The bosses in Depths maps are often unique and can be more challenging than some main story bosses. Use these encounters to hone your combat skills.

By engaging with these post-game activities, you'll not only extend your playtime in Code Vein but also deepen your understanding of its lore and master its intricate combat system. Good luck, Revenant!
