Gifts are powerful abilities in Code Vein, and mastering their acquisition and leveling is crucial for optimizing your build and overcoming the Lost. This section will guide you through efficient methods for obtaining new Gifts and rapidly increasing their proficiency.

Acquiring New Gifts

New Gifts are primarily acquired through two main methods: unlocking them via Blood Codes and inheriting them from other Blood Codes after meeting specific proficiency requirements.

1. Unlocking via Blood Codes:
   • Each Blood Code comes with a unique set of Gifts. As you gain experience (Haze) and level up your character, you can spend Haze at a Mistle or the Home Base to unlock these Gifts.
   • Prioritize unlocking Gifts that synergize with your playstyle early on. For example, if you prefer melee combat, focus on Blood Codes like Fighter or Berserker and unlock their offensive Gifts first.
   • To view a Blood Code's Gifts, navigate to the "Blood Code" menu from a Mistle or at Home Base, select the desired Blood Code, and then choose "View Gifts."
2. Inheriting Gifts:
   • Once you've unlocked a Gift within a Blood Code, you must then gain proficiency with it. Proficiency is gained by simply using the Gift in combat.
   • Each Gift has a proficiency bar that fills as you use it. Once the bar is full, the Gift becomes "mastered."
   • A mastered Gift can then be inherited and used with *any* Blood Code, allowing for immense build customization.
   • The most efficient way to gain proficiency is to repeatedly use the Gift during exploration and combat. Consider equipping Gifts you want to level up even if they aren't your primary abilities.

Efficient Gift Leveling Strategies

Maximizing Gift proficiency can be a grind, but these strategies will significantly speed up the process:

1. Target Weak Enemies:
   • Repeatedly using Gifts on weak enemies that pose little threat is an excellent way to gain proficiency without risking Haze loss.
   • Good early-game locations for this include the Ruined City Underground, specifically the areas around the first few Mistles where basic Lost are plentiful.
   • Later in the game, areas like the City of Falling Flame or the Provisional Government Outskirts offer denser enemy populations suitable for farming.
2. Utilize Haze Farming Routes:
   • Combine Gift leveling with Haze farming. Design a route that allows you to repeatedly engage groups of enemies, using the Gifts you want to level.
   • A popular early-game route involves clearing the path from the Parking Garage Mistle in the Ruined City Underground, through the narrow corridors, and back to the Mistle to reset.
   • For later stages, consider the Cathedral of the Sacred Blood, particularly the areas with multiple patrols of Lost.
3. Equip Proficiency-Boosting Items:
   • While rare, certain passive abilities or Blood Veils might offer minor boosts to Gift proficiency gain. Keep an eye out for these, especially in the late game.
   • The Isis Blood Code, for example, offers Gifts that can indirectly aid in farming by increasing your survivability or damage output, allowing for more consistent Gift usage.
4. Focus on One or Two Gifts at a Time:
   • Instead of trying to level every Gift simultaneously, concentrate on mastering one or two essential Gifts for your current build. This focused approach yields quicker results and allows you to integrate them into your permanent loadout sooner.
5. Co-op Play:
   • Playing in co-op mode can make Gift leveling less tedious. While you might not get all the final blows, the increased enemy density and constant combat opportunities provide ample chances to use your Gifts.
