North African Operation Missions

The North African Operation serves as an introductory campaign, focusing on the early stages of the Allied invasion of North Africa. These missions often involve combined arms tactics, desert environments, and facing off against the Afrika Korps.

Mission 1: Operation Torch - The Beachhead Assault

Objective: Secure the beachhead and establish a forward operating base.

This mission introduces core mechanics such as unit deployment, cover usage, and basic resource management. You'll command a small contingent of US forces tasked with establishing a foothold on the North African coast.

Initial Deployment: You begin with a small squad of Riflemen and an Engineer team. Immediately move your Riflemen to the nearest cover (e.g., sandbags, ruined walls) to engage the initial German resistance. Prioritize eliminating the enemy MG42 nest positioned directly ahead.
Engineer Tasks: Have your Engineers construct a Medical Station near your starting position. This is vital for reinforcing and healing your infantry. Next, direct them to repair the damaged M4 Sherman Tank located slightly to the east of your landing zone, near the overturned supply truck. This tank will be crucial for the upcoming push.
Pushing Inland: Once the Sherman is operational, use it to spearhead your advance. Its main gun is effective against enemy emplacements and light vehicles. Support it with your Riflemen, using their Grenades to clear out entrenched enemy infantry in buildings and to dislodge Panzergrenadier squads.
Key Location - Coastal Artillery Battery: The primary objective is to capture the Coastal Artillery Battery on the hill overlooking the beach. Approach from the south-west, using the terrain for cover. Expect heavy resistance, including another MG42 Heavy Machine Gun nest and several Grenadier squads. Flank the MG42 with your Riflemen while the Sherman draws its fire. Once the area is clear, have your Engineers capture the battery.
Reinforcements & Counter-Attack: After capturing the battery, expect a German counter-attack from the north-east, often featuring a Puma Armored Car or a Stug III. Position your Sherman to intercept, and use your Riflemen's Sticky Bombs (if upgraded) or concentrated fire to disable the enemy vehicle.
Victory Condition: Eliminate all enemy forces within the designated objective zone around the Coastal Artillery Battery and hold it for 60 seconds.

Strategy Tips:

Cover is King: Always keep your infantry in cover to reduce incoming damage.
Combined Arms: Use your Sherman to absorb damage and deal heavy blows, while your infantry provides anti-infantry support and flanks.

Italian Dynamic Campaign Missions

The Italian Dynamic Campaign offers a more open-ended experience, where your strategic choices on the campaign map influence the tactical battles you fight. The missions listed below are examples of the tactical engagements you might encounter as you push through Italy, often tied to specific objectives on the strategic map.

Mission: The Gothic Line Breakthrough

Objective: Breach the Gothic Line defenses and capture the vital crossroads.

This mission represents a typical engagement against heavily fortified German positions along the formidable Gothic Line. Expect a challenging fight against entrenched infantry, anti-tank emplacements, and potential armored counter-attacks.

Starting Units: You'll be provided with a mix of Riflemen, an M10 Wolverine Tank Destroyer, and a Mortar Team. Assess the terrain immediately; the enemy holds high ground and fortified positions.
Mortar Strategy: The Gothic Line is heavily fortified with Bunkers, MG42 Nests, and Pak 40 Anti-Tank Guns. Use your Mortar Team to shell these static defenses from a safe distance. Prioritize the MG42s and Bunkers to suppress enemy infantry and clear paths for your advance. Target Pak 40s if they are in range and you have sufficient munitions.
M10 Wolverine Deployment: The M10 Wolverine is your primary anti-tank asset. Position it carefully behind your infantry to engage any incoming Panzer IVs or Stug IIIs that the enemy might deploy. Its armor is thin, so avoid direct engagements where it can be flanked or exposed to multiple threats. Use its superior range and penetration to pick off enemy armor from afar. Keep it protected from infantry with your Riflemen.
Flanking Maneuvers: The enemy often concentrates forces at choke points. Look for opportunities to flank their positions using your Riflemen. There's often a less-defended route along the map's edges. For instance, a damaged Supply Depot might be located to the north-east of your starting position; capturing and repairing it will provide a steady stream of resources, but it may be lightly guarded.
Secondary Objective - Destroy German Command Post: A common secondary objective in these missions is to destroy a German Command Post located in a central village or fortified area. This will disrupt enemy reinforcements and provide a tactical advantage. Use a combination of tank fire and infantry assaults. Be wary of Panzerschreck squads and Grenadier patrols guarding the approach. Smoke grenades can be invaluable for obscuring vision during the assault.
Consolidating the Breakthrough: Once you've breached the initial line, the enemy will often attempt to counter-attack with fresh infantry and sometimes light vehicles. Prepare defensive positions, use your Mortar to suppress, and keep your M10 Wolverine ready.
Victory Condition: Capture and hold the Crossroads for 120 seconds, eliminating all enemy resistance in the immediate vicinity. Ensure you have sufficient units to defend against the final waves of counter-attacks.

Patience is Key: Don't rush into fortified positions. Use your Mortar to soften targets before committing your ground units.
Anti-Tank Priority: Always be aware of potential enemy armor. Your M10 Wolverine is fragile but deadly if used correctly. Prioritize enemy anti-tank guns with your Mortar or flanking infantry.
Engineer Defenses: If you have Engineers, consider laying Teller Mines on likely enemy advance routes once you've secured a position.

Mission: Monte Cassino Assault

Objective: Capture the Monastery at Monte Cassino.

This mission is a brutal test of combined arms and endurance, simulating the infamous battle for Monte Cassino. The enemy holds an incredibly strong, elevated position, and you'll need to meticulously plan your assault.

Challenging Terrain: This mission features extremely defensible enemy positions, with steep inclines, rocky outcrops, and numerous fortified structures. Utilize the plentiful cover and elevation to your advantage, but be wary of enemy units doing the same.
Engineer Priority: Early in the mission, your Engineers should focus on building Barbed Wire and Sandbags to fortify your initial positions against counter-attacks. They can also lay Teller Mines on likely enemy advance routes, particularly on roads leading up to the monastery.
Artillery Support: You will gain access to off-map Artillery Barrage abilities (often unlocked through Command Points). Use these judiciously to soften up heavily fortified enemy positions, particularly the Flak 88 Anti-Tank Guns and dense infantry concentrations that guard the monastery approaches. Save some for the final push.
Flamethrower Upgrade: Consider upgrading one of your Riflemen squads with a Flamethrower. These are incredibly effective against enemy infantry entrenched in the monastery's buildings and bunkers, flushing them out or eliminating them quickly.
Item Location - Captured Panzerschreck: A hidden Captured Panzerschreck can often be found near the ruined church on the eastern flank of the monastery, or sometimes in a destroyed German supply cache. Equipping this to a Rifleman squad will significantly boost your anti-armor capabilities, vital for dealing with unexpected tank deployments.
Phased Advance: Do not attempt a direct assault on the monastery. Instead, advance in phases, securing smaller objectives (like observation posts or lower-level fortifications) and establishing forward positions before pushing further. Each secured point should be fortified against counter-attacks.
Smoke Grenades: Your infantry's Smoke Grenades are absolutely essential for this mission. Use them to obscure enemy line of sight when crossing open ground or assaulting fortified positions, especially when dealing with MG42s or Flak 88s.
Final Push: The monastery itself is a fortress. Coordinate your attacks, using smoke grenades to obscure enemy vision while your infantry advances. Expect multiple waves of elite German infantry, including Panzergrenadiers and Fallschirmjäger, often supported by Panzer IVs or Stug IIIs. Use your heaviest anti-tank assets and artillery during this phase.
Victory Condition: Secure the Monastery Courtyard and eliminate all German forces within its walls. This often involves capturing specific flag points within the monastery complex.

Strategy Tips:

Scout Ahead: Use a fast-moving unit or a recon ability to scout enemy positions before committing your main force.
Focus Fire: Concentrate your fire on one enemy unit at a time to eliminate threats efficiently.
Retreat and Reinforce: Don't be afraid to retreat damaged squads to your Medical Station for healing and reinforcement. Losing veteran squads is costly.
