Combat Abilities

Jesse Faden's supernatural abilities are the cornerstone of her combat effectiveness in Control Ultimate Edition. Beyond the Service Weapon, these powers allow for crowd control, devastating offense, and crucial defensive maneuvers, transforming every encounter into a dynamic spectacle.

As you progress through The Oldest House, you'll unlock and upgrade several psychic abilities. These powers consume energy, which regenerates over time, encouraging strategic use rather than constant spamming. Mastering the synergy between your Service Weapon and these abilities is key to overcoming the Hiss and other paranormal threats. Prioritizing which abilities to unlock and upgrade first can sificantly impact your playstyle and survivability.

Key Combat Abilities:

Launch: This is your primary telekinetic ability. You can grab environmental objects (debris, furniture, even enemies) and hurl them with immense force. This is incredibly effective against groups of enemies and can deal sificant damage. Upgrades can increase the speed of acquisition, the damage dealt, and even allow you to launch multiple objects.
Shield: Creates a temporary defensive barrier using debris. This is crucial for blocking incoming projectiles and surviving intense firefights. Upgrades can increase the duration, reduce the energy cost, and even allow you to absorb enemy projectiles to replenish your energy.
Seize: Allows Jesse to take control of Hiss-corrupted enemies, turning them against their former allies. This is a powerful crowd-control tool, especially when facing overwhelming numbers. Upgrades can increase the duration of control and the health of the seized enemy.
Evade: While not strictly a 'supernatural' ability in the same vein as the others, Jesse's rapid dodge is essential for survival. It allows her to quickly reposition and avoid incoming attacks. Upgrades can increase the distance or reduce the cooldown.
Levitate: Unlocked later in the game, this allows Jesse to float and move through the air. This opens up new combat and exploration opportunities, allowing you to gain high ground or escape dangerous situations.

Strategic Use:

Combine Abilities: Don't just use abilities in isolation. For example, use Launch to throw a heavy object, then immediately follow up with Shield to block incoming fire while your energy regenerates.
Environmental Awareness: Always be scanning your surroundings for objects you can Launch. The more debris, the more powerful your attacks.
Prioritize Targets: Use Seize on tougher enemies to create a distraction and deal damage to their allies.
Energy Management: Keep an eye on your energy bar. Don't deplete it completely if you anticipate needing Shield or Launch for defense.
