Skill Points
Skill Points are the primary currency for character progression in Control Ultimate Edition, allowing Jesse Faden to unlock and upgrade her powerful supernatural abilities and enhance her Service Weapon. Earning and strategically allocating these points is key to survival and mastery.
Skill Points are awarded for completing various activities within The Oldest House. The most consistent source is by completing main story missions and side quests. Additionally, finding certain collectibles, such as Research & Development documents or completing specific challenges, can also yield Skill Points. Each new point earned represents an opportunity to further customize Jesse's capabilities, tailoring her to your preferred playstyle, whether that's a defensive powerhouse, an offensive juggernaut, or a balanced agent.
How to Earn Skill Points:
- Main Missions: Completing each stage of the main story campa is a sificant source of Skill Points.
- Side Quests: Optional missions are often highly rewarding, frequently granting one or more Skill Points upon completion.
- Collectibles: Certain rare collectibles, particularly those found in hidden areas or as rewards for specific challenges, can provide Skill Points.
- Control Point Challenges: Sometimes, activating certain Control Points might trigger unique challenges that, upon completion, award Skill Points.
Where to Spend Skill Points:
Skill Points are spent at any activated Control Point by selecting the 'Upgrade' option. Here, you'll find a branching skill tree divided into categories:
- Jesse's Abilities: This section allows you to unlock and upgrade Jesse's supernatural powers, such as Launch, Shield, Seize, Evade, and Levitate. Upgrades can increase damage, duration, range, reduce energy costs, or add new functionalities.
- Service Weapon Forms: While the forms themselves are unlocked through story progression, Skill Points can be used to upgrade their effectiveness, such as increasing damage, fire rate, or reload speed for specific forms.
Strategic Allocation:
The best way to spend Skill Points depends heavily on your preferred playstyle:
- Offensive Playstyle: Prioritize upgrading Launch for maximum damage and range, and invest in Service Weapon damage upgrades.
- Defensive Playstyle: Focus on upgrading Shield for increased durability and duration, and invest in Evade for better survivability.
- Balanced Playstyle: Distribute points to gain a mix of offensive and defensive capabilities, ensuring you can handle various situations.
Recommendation:
It's generally recommended to unlock and upgrade Launch and Shield early on, as they are incredibly versatile for both offense and defense. Then, tailor your subsequent choices based on how you enjoy playing. Don't be afraid to experiment, as you can often respec your points later in the game if you find a different build suits you better.
