Directorial Override Walkthrough: Restoring the NSC Power Plant
In the "Directorial Override" mission, your primary objective is to reach the Maintenance Sector and restore power to the NSC Power Plant to lift the internal lockdown. This mission serves as your introduction to the industrial heart of the Oldest House, where Jesse must stabilize the building's energy source while navigating hazardous environmental obstacles and intense combat encounters.
Main Objectives & Key Locations
- Reach the Maintenance Sector: Use the Sector Elevator to descend into Maintenance. You will first encounter Arish at the Ventilation control point.
- The NSC Power Plant: This massive structure is central to the mission. You must locate the missing Internal Terminals and restore flow to the core.
- Fix the Energy Converters: Navigate the industrial catwalks to find three localized power hubs. You will need to use your Launch ability to slot Power Cells (glowing cubes) into the empty sockets.
- Fix the Cooling Pumps: Head to the NSC Coolant Pumps area. This section introduces environmental platforming challenges where Jesse must navigate around toxic sludge and high-pressure steam.
Enemy Types & Combat Strategies
The Hiss forces become significantly more aggressive during this mission. You will encounter:
- Hiss Resonators: Small, flying spheres that heal other enemies. Always prioritize destroying these first to prevent them from undoing your damage.
- Hiss Snipers: These enemies stay at high elevations and use a laser sight to line up high-damage shots. Listen for the distinct "charging" sound and use Evade to dodge the projectile.
- Hiss Guards: Standard foot soldiers. Use the Environment—specifically the explosive red canisters found throughout Maintenance—to clear groups quickly.
Environmental Challenges
The Maintenance Sector is riddled with "Clog" (black, pulsating organic matter) and "Mold." Be wary of standing in gold or green toxic pools near the Coolant Pumps. If you see a Power Cell slot covered in Clog, you must use your Service Weapon to blast the growths away before you can insert a Power Cube to restore the NSC Power Core's functionality.
