Service Weapon Form Evolution & Unlock Requirements

The Service Weapon is Jesse Faden's primary tool for combating the Hiss, and it's more than just a gun – it's an Object of Power that can shapeshift into various forms. Each form is unlocked through progression in the main story and offers distinct tactical advantages.

Form Name Unlock Requirement Description & Tactical Use
Grip Acquired at the start of the game. The default, all-around pistol form. Reliable for most combat situations, offering a good balance of damage and rate of fire. Essential for early game encounters.
Spin Complete the mission "Directorial Override." A rapid-fire submachine gun. Ideal for close-to-medium range combat, capable of suppressing groups of enemies and dealing high damage quickly. Excellent for clearing out swarms of Hiss.
Pierce Complete the mission "My Brother's Keeper." A powerful sniper rifle. Its projectiles can penetrate multiple enemies, making it perfect for taking out high-priority targets from a distance or dealing with enemies behind cover. Requires precise aiming.
Shatter Complete the mission "A Merry Chase." A devastating shotgun. Its wide spread and high close-range damage make it ideal for clearing out enemies that get too close. Effective against tougher Hiss variants and bosses.
Charge Complete the mission "The Enemy Within." A grenade launcher that fires explosive projectiles. Excellent for area denial, damaging groups of enemies, or dealing sificant damage to heavily armored foes and bosses. Can be charged for a larger blast radius.

As you progress through the story and cleanse more Objects of Power, you'll also gain Ability Points. These points can be spent at Control Points to upgrade your Service Weapon forms, enhancing their damage, reload speed, and other attributes. Experimenting with different forms and upgrades based on the enemy types you face and your preferred playstyle is key to mastering combat in The Oldest House.
