Endgame Content

Congratulations, Core Keeper! You've conquered the primary bosses and explored the darkest corners of the underground. But the adventure doesn't end there. Endgame content in Core Keeper offers a wealth of challenges, unique rewards, and opportunities to truly master your build and base.

The Sunken Sea Expedition

Your first major step into the endgame is venturing into the Sunken Sea biome. This vast, aquatic region is home to some of the toughest enemies and most valuable resources in the game.

  • Preparation is Key: Before diving in, ensure you have the best gear available. A full set of Octarine Armor or Carapace Armor is highly recommended for its defensive stats. For weapons, consider a fully upgraded Ancient Sword or a ranged option like the Blast Bow for dealing with aquatic threats.
  • Essential Items:
    • Diving Helmet: Crucial for extended underwater exploration. Crafted at the Automation Table with Ancient Gemstones and Iron Bars.
    • Flippers: Significantly increases movement speed in water. Found in chests within the Sunken Sea or rarely dropped by Giant Clams.
    • Water Breathing Potions: Provides a temporary buff to breathe underwater without a helmet. Crafted at the Alchemy Table.
    • Cooked Fish Dishes: The Sunken Sea offers new fish species that provide powerful buffs when cooked, such as increased damage or defense.
  • Locating the Azeos' Eye: Your primary objective here is to find the Azeos' Eye, a key item required to summon the final boss. It's typically found in large, submerged ruins guarded by powerful Abyssal Tentacles and Deep Sea Serpents.

The Hive Mother's Lair (Hard Mode)

After defeating the Hive Mother for the first time, you can re-challenge her in a significantly tougher "Hard Mode" version. This fight is a true test of your combat prowess and strategy.

  • Summoning the Hard Mode Hive Mother: To initiate the Hard Mode encounter, you'll need to craft a Corrupted Larva at the Alchemy Table using Hive Mother's Remains (dropped by the regular Hive Mother) and several Corrupted Ore. Place the Corrupted Larva on the summoning platform in the Hive Mother's arena.
  • New Attack Patterns: Be prepared for faster attacks, new projectile types, and increased damage from the Hard Mode Hive Mother. She will also summon more aggressive and numerous Larva and Acidic Larva.
  • Strategic Positioning: Utilize the arena's pillars for cover against her acid projectiles. Focus fire on the summoned Larva to prevent being overwhelmed, but always keep an eye on the Hive Mother's movements.
  • Rewards: Defeating the Hard Mode Hive Mother has a chance to drop unique legendary items, such as the Hive Lord's Scythe or the Acidic Carapace Shield, which boast superior stats and special abilities.

Ancient Automation and Base Building

Endgame is also about optimizing your base and automating resource collection. The Automation Table becomes indispensable.

  • Advanced Drills: Upgrade your drills to Octarine Drills or even Galaxite Drills for faster and more efficient mining of rare ores.
  • Conveyor Belts and Storage: Design intricate conveyor belt systems to transport resources directly from mining operations to your storage chests or crafting stations.
  • Automatic Farms: Set up automated farms for food and plant-based resources using Sprinklers and Harvesters.
  • Mob Farms: Construct specialized arenas with traps and automated defenses to farm specific mob drops for crafting rare items. The Caveling Brute farm is popular for its consistent drops of Brute Horns, essential for high-tier crafting.

Legendary Item Hunting

The deepest parts of the world and the toughest bosses hold the most coveted treasures. Hunting for legendary items becomes a core endgame activity.

  • Boss Drops: Each major boss, especially in Hard Mode, has a small chance to drop a legendary weapon, armor piece, or accessory. Repeated runs are often necessary.
  • Ancient Chests: Keep an eye out for rare, glowing Ancient Chests found deep within the world. These have a higher chance of containing legendary items or rare crafting materials.
  • Secret Areas: Some legendary items are hidden in secret areas or behind complex puzzles. Explore every nook and cranny, and don't be afraid to experiment with environmental interactions.
