Information Panel

The Information Panel in Core Keeper is your go-to source for real-time data about your character, the world around you, and your current objectives. Mastering its use is crucial for efficient exploration, combat, and base management. This panel dynamically updates based on what you're interacting with or what state your character is in.

Accessing the Information Panel

The Information Panel is typically located on the bottom right of your screen by default. It's always visible, but its content changes. There's no specific key to "open" it; rather, it reacts to your actions.

Key Information Displays

  • Character Status:
    • Health Bar: Displays your current HP. If you're taking damage, you'll see it deplete. Keep an eye on this during combat with creatures like the Glurch the Abominable Mass or the Hive Mother.
    • Energy Bar: Shows your current energy for actions like mining, farming, and using tools. Depleted energy means you can't perform these actions until it regenerates or you consume food.
    • Hunger Bar: Indicates your hunger level. A full hunger bar provides beneficial buffs, while an empty one can lead to debuffs. Regularly consume cooked meals like Hearty Pepper Salad or Bomb Pepper Fish to maintain this.
    • Buffs/Debuffs: Small icons will appear here, indicating any active buffs (e.g., "Well Fed" from food, "Mining Speed Up" from certain equipment) or debuffs (e.g., "Poisoned" from a Larva, "Slowed" from a Slime). Hover over them for details.
  • Target Information:
    • When you hover your cursor over an enemy, resource node, or interactive object, the Information Panel will display relevant details.
    • Enemies: Shows the enemy's name (e.g., Caveling, Azeos the Sky Titan), current health, and any active status effects on them. This is vital for prioritizing targets in combat.
    • Resource Nodes: Displays the type of resource (e.g., Copper Ore, Tin Ore, Scarlet Ore) and sometimes its remaining durability or quantity.
    • Interactive Objects: Provides the name and potential actions for objects like Chests, Workbenches, or Ancient Forges.
  • Item Details (Inventory/Hotbar):
    • When you hover over an item in your inventory or hotbar, the Information Panel transforms to show its detailed description.
    • Name and Rarity: The item's name and its rarity (Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary).
    • Stats: For weapons, this includes damage, attack speed, and any special effects. For armor, it shows armor value and any stat bonuses. For tools, it displays mining power, durability, and usage cost.
    • Description: Lore or functional text explaining the item's purpose.
    • Durability: For tools and weapons, a bar indicating remaining durability.
    • Crafting Ingredients: If it's a crafting material, it might list what it's used for.
  • World Information:
    • Occasionally, the panel will display environmental information, such as the current biome you're in (e.g., Dirt Biome, Clay Caves, Forgotten Ruins) or specific area names.

Strategic Use of the Information Panel

  1. Combat Awareness: Always check enemy health and debuffs. This helps you decide whether to press an attack, use a healing item, or retreat. For example, knowing a Caveling Brute is low on health allows you to finish it quickly.
  2. Resource Management: When mining, the panel tells you what you're hitting. This prevents accidental destruction of valuable blocks or ensures you're targeting the correct ore.
  3. Inventory Management: Quickly assess item stats and descriptions without opening full menus. This is especially useful when comparing new gear or deciding which items to keep.
  4. Environmental Navigation: Understanding your current biome from the panel can help you anticipate enemy types and available resources, guiding your exploration.

By consistently monitoring the Information Panel, you'll gain a significant advantage in understanding and interacting with the dynamic world of Core Keeper, leading to more informed decisions and smoother gameplay.
