Navigating the Map and World View

The primary way to interact with the world in Crusader Kings III is through the map. You can pan across the map by clicking and dragging the right mouse button or by using the WASD keys. Zooming in and out is achieved with the mouse scroll wheel. The map displays various layers of information, including political borders, terrain, and character locations. Clicking on a province or character will bring up their respective information panel, providing crucial details about their holdings, traits, and relationships. The Realm Tree, accessible from the top-right of the screen, offers a hierarchical view of all titles and their holders within the game world.

Interacting with Characters and Titles

Characters are the lifeblood of Crusader Kings III. You can interact with any character by right-clicking on them on the map or through their character portrait. This opens a context menu with available actions, such as sending a gift, declaring war, or arranging a marriage. Titles represent your claims and holdings. Clicking on a title will show you its de jure (rightful) territory, its current holder, and any associated vassals. Managing your titles, granting them to loyal subjects, or fabricating claims on new ones is a core gameplay loop.

The User Interface (UI) Elements

The Heads-Up Display (HUD) provides essential information at a glance. The Top Bar displays your current character's portrait, age, health, stress, and gold. It also shows the current date, game speed controls, and notifications. The Minimap in the bottom-right corner offers a quick overview of your realm and surrounding territories. The Decision Panel, often appearing on the right side of the screen, highlights available actions and opportunities based on your character's situation and traits. Familiarizing yourself with these UI elements will significantly streamline your gameplay.
