Their effectiveness is measured by their "Learning" skill and any traits related to faith or piety, such as "Zealous" or "Theologian." A high-skill chaplain can be a powerful asset in navigating the complex religious landscape.
Recruiting and Utilizing Your Chaplain
You can recruit a Court Chaplain by inviting characters to your court who possess the necessary skills, or by using the "Find Characters" tool and filtering for the "Court Chaplain" role. Once appointed, your chaplain can be assigned various tasks. The most common is "Convert Province," which slowly shifts the religious alment of a chosen county towards your faith. This is essential for maintaining religious unity and preventing revolts.
Piety and Religious Stability
Piety is a crucial resource in Crusader Kings III, representing your character's devotion and the favor they hold with their deity. Your Court Chaplain's actions, such as successfully converting provinces or excommunicating troublesome vassals, can generate piety. Conversely, failing to manage religious dissent or having a low-opinion faith can lead to unrest and instability.
