Embarking on your first Crusader Kings III campaign can feel daunting, but a structured approach will lead to success. This walkthrough focuses on the early game, laying the groundwork for a lasting dynasty. Begin by selecting a relatively stable starting character and realm. Consider characters in Ireland, such as Murchad of Munster, or those in the Holy Roman Empire with strong vassals, like a Duke under the Emperor. Your initial goals should be to consolidate your immediate territory, secure your succession, and begin expanding your influence through marriage and diplomacy.

Focus on your character's immediate needs: ensure you have a suitable spouse with good traits and, crucially, that you are producing heirs. Pay close attention to your education trait and strive to educate your children with traits that will benefit them as rulers, such as 'Intelligent' or 'Ambitious'. Early in the game, managing your realm's economy is paramount. Build economic buildings in your core counties, such as farms and villages, to increase your tax income. This income will be vital for raising armies and funding your ambitions.

Diplomacy is your most powerful tool. Use the 'Arrange Marriage' action to forge alliances with powerful neighbors or to secure claims on adjacent territories. Be wary of overextending yourself; a strong army is useless if your realm is fractured by internal dissent. Keep your vassals happy by granting them titles, using the 'Sway' scheme, or ensuring they have a positive opinion of you. Remember that Crusader Kings III is a long-term game. Don't be discouraged by setbacks; learn from them and adapt your strategy for the next generation.
