There are several ways to acquire artifacts. You can 'Commission' them from your Court Artisan (requires the Royal Court DLC), which costs gold and time but allows you to choose the type. You can also gain them through various 'Events', often tied to your lifestyle or character traits. Successful 'Grand Tours' (Royal Court DLC) can also yield artifacts. Finally, you can 'Steal' artifacts through intrigue schemes or inherit them from deceased family members. War can also be a source of captured artifacts.
