Artifact Quality and Durability
Artifacts in Crusader Kings III are powerful items that can sificantly boost a ruler's stats and provide unique bonuses. Each artifact possesses a 'Quality' rating, ranging from 'Common' to 'Legendary'. This rating directly dictates the artifact's effectiveness; a Legendary artifact will offer far greater benefits than a Common one. However, the power of an artifact is not static. Artifacts also have a 'Durability' stat, which naturally decreases over time or can be depleted by specific in-game events. When an artifact's durability reaches zero, it becomes 'Broken', rendering it useless and stripping away all its associated bonuses.
Fortunately, the loss of an artifact's effectiveness is not always permanent. You can 'Repair' artifacts, restoring their durability and thus their bonuses. The cost and success rate of repairs can vary depending on the artifact's quality and potentially the skills of the character performing the repair. Furthermore, the 'Artifacts' menu provides a clear overview of your collection, detailing each item's quality, current durability, and the bonuses it provides. Some artifacts might offer stat increases, while others could provide diplomatic bonuses, combat advantages, or even influence your character's lifestyle. Actively managing your artifact collection, prioritizing the repair of your most potent items, and seeking out new, high-quality artifacts through exploration, conquest, or crafting are essential strategies for maximizing your ruler's potential and securing your dynasty's long-term prosperity.
