Succession laws dictate how your titles are passed down upon your character's death. Early game often starts with 'Confederate Partition', which can split your realm. Work towards 'Partition', then 'Primogeniture' or 'Ultimogeniture' to keep your primary titles intact. Changing succession laws requires significant 'Crown Authority' and often the support of your vassals. Plan ahead to avoid your hard-won empire from fracturing upon your death.
