Post-Game Content
Congratulations, Nanosuit soldier! You've successfully navigated the alien invasion of New York City and completed the main campaign of Crysis 2. But the fight isn't over yet. The game offers several avenues for continued engagement, from replaying the campaign with new challenges to hunting down every last collectible. This section will guide you through maximizing your post-game experience.
Replaying the Campaign
One of the most rewarding post-game activities is replaying the campaign on higher difficulties or with specific objectives in mind. This allows you to test your mastery of the Nanosuit's abilities and your tactical prowess against tougher enemies.
- Difficulty Modes:
- Veteran: A significant step up from Normal, enemies are more aggressive, deal more damage, and have increased health. Your Nanosuit energy depletes faster.
- Supersoldier: The ultimate challenge. Enemies are extremely deadly, often taking you down in a few hits. Resource management (ammo, energy) becomes critical. Expect to use every Nanosuit ability and environmental advantage.
- Nanosuit Module Optimization: When replaying, experiment with different Nanosuit Module loadouts. Modules like "Stealth Enhance" (for extended cloak duration) or "Armor Enhance" (for increased damage resistance) can drastically alter your approach to encounters. Consider specializing for specific chapters, such as "Mobility Enhance" for quick traversals in chapters like "Road Rage" or "Weapon Pro" for increased weapon stability during intense firefights in "Eye Of The Storm."
- Weapon Variety: Don't stick to your favorites! Try out weapons you might have overlooked during your first playthrough. The K-Volt (microwave gun) can be surprisingly effective against Ceph Stalkers, while the SCARAB (assault rifle) with a suppressor and scope can be a versatile tool for stealth takedowns.
Collectible Hunting
For the completionist, Crysis 2 features several collectibles scattered throughout its 19 chapters. Finding them all not only provides a sense of accomplishment but also offers deeper insights into the game's lore and world.
- Dog Tags: These military identification tags are often found near fallen CELL personnel or in hidden corners of the environment. There are numerous Dog Tags in each chapter. For example, in "Second Chance," look for a Dog Tag near the crashed helicopter at the beginning, and another in the subway tunnels. In "Corporate Collapse," several are hidden within the offices and destroyed infrastructure.
- Car Keys: While not directly useful for gameplay, collecting all Car Keys unlocks an achievement/trophy and provides a unique collectible. These are often in less obvious locations, sometimes requiring careful Nanosuit jumps or environmental interaction to reach. For instance, in "Road Rage," check inside abandoned vehicles or on ledges overlooking the street.
- Souvenirs: These unique items offer snippets of lore and background information about the invasion and the characters. They are often well-hidden and require keen observation. An example might be a child's drawing in "Unsafe Haven" or a personal photo in "Dark Heart."
- Strategy for Collectibles:
- use Nanosuit Visor: Frequently use your Nanosuit's tactical visor (default 'V' on PC, D-Pad Up on consoles) to scan environments. Collectibles will often be highlighted, making them easier to spot.
- Explore Thoroughly: Don't rush through levels. After clearing an area of enemies, take your time to explore every nook, cranny, and elevated position.
- Consult a Guide: If you're struggling to find specific items, refer to a dedicated collectible guide. These often provide precise locations and visual aids.
Achievement/Trophy Unlocks
Many achievements and trophies are tied to specific in-game actions, challenges, or finding all collectibles. Reviewing the full list of achievements/trophies can give you new objectives to pursue.
- Skill-Based Challenges: Some achievements require specific combat feats, such as performing a certain number of stealth kills, headshots, or environmental takedowns. For example, the "Popcorn" achievement for killing a Ceph Devastator with a single shot from the JAW (rocket launcher) requires precise timing and aiming.
- Completionist Goals: As mentioned, finding all Dog Tags, Car Keys, and Souvenirs will unlock dedicated achievements.
- Difficulty-Related: Completing the game on Veteran and Supersoldier difficulties will also grant you prestigious achievements, showcasing your mastery of the Nanosuit.
By engaging with these post-game activities, you can significantly extend your enjoyment of Crysis 2, refine your skills, and uncover all the secrets New York City holds.
