Boarding the Ghost Ship
The journey through No-Man's Wharf culminates in a perilous boarding of a spectral vessel, the key to advancing further into Drangleic. This section will guide you through the final gauntlet of the wharf and onto the ship itself.
Reaching the Ship
From the last bonfire (No-Man's Wharf), proceed down the main path. You'll encounter several Undead Scrappers and Undead Pillagers. Be wary of ambushes from the buildings to your left and right.
- Strategy: Lure enemies out one by one. The Scrappers are fast but have low poise, while Pillagers can be dangerous with their ranged attacks. use the environment for cover.
- Item Alert: Before reaching the final dock, check the small alcoves and ledges for hidden items like a Large Soul of a Lost Undead or Green Blossom.
As you approach the large wooden dock leading to the ship, you'll notice a mechanism to your right. This is the bell lever. Do NOT pull it yet. First, clear the immediate area of any remaining enemies.
The Bell and the Darkdwellers
Pulling the bell lever will summon the ghost ship, but it also plunges the area into darkness, making the already aggressive Darkdwellers significantly more dangerous. These creatures are sensitive to light and become enraged in the dark.
- Preparation:
- Ensure you have a reliable light source equipped. The Torch is ideal, but a Cast Light sorcery or a Pharos' Contraption activated in the area (if you found one earlier) can also work.
- Consider equipping armor with high dark resistance if you're struggling.
- Have healing items readily available.
- Action:
- Pull the bell lever. The area will darken, and the ship will slowly approach.
- Immediately equip your light source. This will keep the Darkdwellers at bay, though they will still attack if you get too close.
- Focus on reaching the ship's gangplank. Avoid engaging the Darkdwellers unless absolutely necessary, as they are numerous and can quickly overwhelm you in the dark.
Boarding the Ship
Once the ship docks, a wooden gangplank will extend. Sprint across it to board the vessel. Be mindful of any lingering Darkdwellers that might follow you onto the plank.
- Inside the Ship:
- Upon boarding, head straight into the ship's interior. You'll find a small, relatively safe area.
- Item Alert: Look for a chest containing a Titanite Shard and a Soul of a Proud Knight.
- Proceed through the ship. You'll encounter a few more Undead Scrappers and possibly an Undead Pillager on the upper decks.
- The Boss Arena:
- The path through the ship is linear and leads directly to the boss fog gate for the Flexile Sentry.
- Before entering the fog gate, ensure you are fully prepared. Consider summoning the NPC phantom Lucatiel of Mirrah if you've met her conditions (her summon sign is usually near the bell lever or on the dock).
Successfully boarding the ghost ship marks the end of No-Man's Wharf and the beginning of your encounter with the Flexile Sentry. Good luck, and may the flames guide thee!
