Darkeater Midir Phase 2 Strategy
As Darkeater Midir transitions into its second phase, typically after reaching roughly half health, its aggression and attack repertoire escalate significantly. The most crucial change is the introduction of its devastating dark beam attack. This fiery breath attack, unleashed from its maw, covers a wide area and deals immense damage. The key to surviving this phase is understanding its tells and positioning yourself correctly. When Midir rears its head and begins to inhale deeply, prepare to dodge. The beam itself is a continuous stream, so a single well-timed dodge roll away from the direction of the beam is usually sufficient. However, be aware that Midir may follow up with a sweeping tail attack or a lunging bite, so don't get complacent after dodging the beam.
Another significant shift is Midir's increased tendency to use its claw swipes and stomps more frequently and with greater force. These attacks can stagger even heavily armored players, leaving them vulnerable to subsequent blows. Prioritize attacking its head, as this is still its primary weak point and the most reliable way to deal significant damage. However, be mindful of its head movements, as it can quickly turn to face you and unleash a bite or claw attack. If you're struggling with the dark beam, consider using a shield with high fire resistance, though dodging remains the most effective strategy. Patience is paramount in this phase; look for openings after its major attacks, such as the dark beam or a powerful stomp, to land a few hits before retreating.
The environment also plays a role. The Ringed City arena is vast, but Midir's attacks can quickly close distances. Utilize the open space to your advantage, giving yourself room to react. If you find yourself cornered, prioritize escaping to a more open area. Remember that Midir's health pool is enormous, so even small, consistent damage adds up. Don't get greedy; a few safe hits are far better than a risky combo that leads to your demise. The goal is to survive its onslaught and chip away at its health, waiting for those precious few seconds of vulnerability.
