Slave Knight Gael Phase 2 Strategy

Overcome Slave Knight Gael's Phase 2 in Dark Souls III: The Ringed City. Learn to counter his sweeping Greatsword attacks and deceptive delayed swings.

Slave Knight Gael's second phase introduces a more aggressive and unpredictable fighting style, demanding heightened reflexes and careful observation. Gael will begin to utilize his massive Greatsword with sweeping, wide-reaching attacks that cover a significant area. Many of these attacks have a slight delay, making them deceptive and prone to catching players off guard if they rely solely on dodge timing from the first phase. He will also start incorporating a new move where he charges forward with a series of rapid slashes, often followed by a powerful overhead slam. The key here is to learn the tells for these combos. Generally, it's safer to dodge *through* his swings, aiming to end up behind him or to his side, rather than trying to dodge away. This positions you for counter-attacks. Be mindful of his increased mobility; he can close distances quickly. If you're using a shield, ensure it has high physical defense, but be prepared for stamina drain. Prioritize dodging over blocking when possible, as his attacks can quickly break a defender's guard. Look for openings after his longer combo strings or after he finishes a particularly heavy attack. A well-timed roll followed by one or two quick hits is often the most efficient way to deal damage without overcommitting.
